Food- I ordered a chicken bowl with just rice and beans. I liked the fact that it was not too salty like other places and the aftertaste/seasonings was very good without being too salty. Plus, they gave me enough food for two meals! My only complaint was that there seemed to be way too much broth in the bowl, not sure if from the chicken or beans. Using a slotted spoon could easily fix this. I ordered a bowl not soup! (No but it tasted very good and the portions are huge). I also like that this place offers plain white rice, as it was shocking to me that the Asian themed restaurants next to it didn’t.
Service- The worker was very kind and pleasant, but did seem to be questioning the lack of sauces/toppings on my order. I would order them if I could, but I have dietary restrictions.
Atmosphere- Mall food court, self explanatory.
If I were to go back again, I would try the roast chicken platter as it has the same ingredients but is not as soupy. The big portions are awesome though!

I am thrilled that Cuban Eddie’s has opened a new location in Rockaway Mall. I have long been a fan of their food at the Bergen County spots in Dumont and River Vale, but this one is more local for me. The Roasted Chicken entree is delicious, a large meal of 3 roasted chicken drumsticks (so moist and tender), rice, beans, and sweet plantains. I was amazed to see that Cuban Eddie’s prices still have not risen even though I hadn’t made it back to Bergen County in a long while; the value is incredible, with the full meal costing only $5.99. Who doesn’t love a bargain for a fantastic meal out? After discovering yesterday that the new place opened in July, I made a point to go for lunch today. Try it if you haven’t yet.

This is not Cuban food at all, I got the pernil with yellow rice and beans and my wife got the ropa vieja. The pernil was dry and flavorless, like all they used was salt and cooked it to hell. My wife’s ropa vieja tasted like beef that was not seasoned and dumped in tomato sauce, the beans also no flavor almost taste like straight out of a can. The yellow rice tasted like it came straight out of a box, out of all the choices in the food court I made the worst one, I do not recommend this place to anyone let alone anyone who wants authentic Cuban food, even the soda was flat for crying out loud and tasted like like pencil shavings. I am not one to write reviews but after spending $30 dollars for this horrible experience, I truly wish I could rewind time.

Had take out so I can’t attest to the courtyard atmosphere. Had really been craving a cubano so instead of driving to Montclair, Cuban Pete’s, I gave this a try. Flavors were ok but the bread…..cheap sub just pressed down like a panini. Under $10 so that’s a plus but I won’t return

Absolutely love love this place. You can get 2 amazing meals for the less than a Chipotle bowl/burrito. Their quality is on point too, this has been my new spot for a week and I will come here everyday.

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. $5.99 for roasted chicken AND rice & beans? In 2025? Everyone reading this please support this place. Great home cooked quality style for an affordable price. The chicken consisted of 3 tasty drumsticks, which as it turns out is my favorite way to eat them. Now I have to check out other Cuban Eddie’s to see if the prices are similar there!

The food here is absolutely amazing! We ordered beef and cheese empanadas, rice and beans, maduros, and roasted chicken, and everything was spot on. The empanadas were crispy and flavorful, the rice and beans tasted authentic and comforting, and the maduros were perfectly sweet with a nice caramelized edge. The roasted chicken was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. You can really taste the love and authenticity in every bite. Highly recommend if you’re craving real Cuban cuisine!

I was so excited to try it because I love Cuban food & we hadn’t had any in the area! The portion of ropa vieja I got was huge-which is great-but it was in a tiny takeout box and leaked all over me. If you’re going to serve big portions, maybe get bigger boxes. When I ate it, all the food was room temperature and really not that good. I’m so disappointed ☹️

Great price and portion on lunch special. Today I got beef empendas and they were good. Before that I got the roasted chicken lunch and I did not care for the drum sticks, but I do not usually like drum sticks unless they are in sauce, and these were not. I gave them another chance and tried a beef food which I liked.

I recently had lunch at Cuban Eddie’s at the Rockaway Mall, and it was absolutely fantastic! I ordered a Cuban sandwich, maduros, rice and beans, and an empanada, and everything was spot-on delicious. The flavors brought me back to the way my mom used to cook. The Cuban sandwich had the perfect balance of savory and tangy, and the maduros were sweet and perfectly fried. The rice and beans were flavorful and comforting, and the empanada was crispy with just the right filling. It’s hard to find food that feels so authentic and nostalgic. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!
