Had an amazing experience at Crystal Thai Cambodia Restaurant, tucked on the corner of 10th and Orange in Long Beach. I’m all about home-cooked, comfort-style food, and this place absolutely nailed it.
The egg rolls were perfectly crispy and flavorful, the stir-fried water spinach was fresh and delicious, and the crispy pork spareribs were cooked to perfection. I also loved the Khmer curry and papaya salad — every dish had that authentic, homemade touch that’s hard to find.
If this spot were down the street from me, I’d be there every day. Highly recommended!
Just a heads-up: it’s cash only, so come prepared.

Food is great, not a wow factor, i wish they could serve it faster. I dislike the fact of CASH ONLY for a traveler like me, also the flies in restaurant are really annoying. Maybe the restaurant should do something to prevent flies as it does look unhygienic.

This little hole in the wall serves up authentic Khmer dishes, challenging to find in the Bay Area. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious, the portions/prices- decent. The ladies who served us were sweet and friendly. I’d definitely return to try more dishes when I’m back in the OC.
It was cash only and parking is limited there but so worth the visit. Thank you!!

The food was good and authentic Cambodian flair. The service we good initially but when it got busy we didn’t see the waitress for awhile. The portions of food were quite fair for the price but keep in mind it is cash only and it appears the menu prices have changed as they were crossed out. Overall if you’re hungry and in the area this is a nice place.

One of the best Cambodian restaurants, if not the best in the area. This is as close as you can get to home-cooked, authentic Cambodian dishes. All dishes are family-style portions. To start, the Beef Skewers were full of flavor, moist, and tender. It is slightly sweet, and salty with a light smoky taste. It is paired very well with the side veggie salad, crunchy. It cuts through that fattiness. The Papaya Salad with salted crabs was delicious, crunchy salty, and spicy. My favorite is Samlor Machu Kreoung, a traditional Khmer sour soup with beef, intestines, and tripe was a standout. It’s so good and authentic tasting perfect for the colder weather and if you are a bit under the weather. It is fully loaded with ong choy. We had enough leftovers for the next day.
But the star of our lunch was the whole Fried Catfish served with Mango and Tamarind sauce. This is not your ordinary fried catfish. The catfish had a crispy skin outside but moist and flavorful inside. The size of the catfish was good enough for 4 people.
The restaurant looks like a family-owned and operated. The service was warm and welcoming. I love to see a steady stream of Cambodian families coming in. They must be doing something right.

Everything we ordered came out pretty quick, hot, fresh and full of flavor. Prices were reasonable, five dishes came out to $68. Our fish was still uncooked inside, they quickly made it right for us.

Crystal Restaurant is a beloved spot for my parents, who adore their Asian cuisine! They visit a few times a month and are huge fans of the food.

Updated 02/2025:
So disappointing! This used to be our go-to for authentic Khmer food.
Each entree $20-25, even the egg pancake thing.
Beef satay–5 big sticks, chicken ones especially, too dry & tough, not worth the jaw work out–never spit out satay before, left the rest for my mom (she eats anything) 😛
Catfish–so over fried it was awful.
Plea, from good then to meh (blah) now–my friends barely touched it.
Salaw, good flavor, greasy & very undercooked today, confounding.
Mostly Khmer patrons.
Service, none, no checking on us–no water refill.
Not as authentic, tasty, as it used to be. I felt so embarrassed for raving about it to my friends–they were far from impressed.
Maybe the older cooks are gone (?).
Certainly not worth $35/person + tip.
Bummed that’s my last visit.
So many better options abound.
