First off, let’s talk about this homemade sourdough focaccia. Calling it “bread” feels like an insult. It’s a pillowy, golden cloud of gluten that I’m pretty sure was baked by angels. I’d consider using a slab of it as a pillow if I weren’t so busy shoving it in my face.
The Heavy Hitters:
The El Jefe: This sandwich has more personality than most people I know. The pork, the ham, the pickles… it’s a power move in sandwich form. It’s not just a meal; it’s a promotion.
The Fresh Prince: I pulled up to the curb about 7 or 8, and I yelled to the sandwich “Yo, home to my stomach!” This prime rib/sautéed onion combo is royalty. It’s so good I almost felt the need to move to Bel-Air just to be worthy of it.
The Supporting Cast:
• Fresh Cut Fries: Forget the frozen bag stuff. These are the real deal—salty, crispy, and highly addictive.
• Organic Pickles: I usually treat pickles as a garnish, but these are a main event. They’ve got that “organic” crunch that makes you feel slightly healthier while you’re deep-diving into a mound of cheese and meat.
But let’s talk about the real MVP: Dave’s Mom. Seriously, she is the human equivalent of a warm chocolate chip cookie. She is so sweet I’m surprised she doesn’t cause a sugar rush just by standing near the counter. Between the sourdough and her hospitality, I’m about five minutes away from asking her to adopt me so I can live in the back of the shop.
Pro Tip: Clear your schedule for at least an hour after eating here. You’re going to need a nap and a moment of silence to process the greatness you just experienced.
This is a 10 Star place. I can’t wait to return and try their Other menu items highly highly recommend
As I walked in, a dog aggressively barked at me. I did literally nothing wrong other than being Black. I proceeded to grab my order and overheard the cashier (an older woman I had never encountered) reassuring the dog’s owner that the behavior was “okay.” The dog’s well-being was placed above my own, and the danger I experienced was dismissed.
This is yet another example of why historically Black people have never been safe in our own lands. Do better, Crumb. You have some outstanding younger staff who represent your community well, and in this moment, their reputation was ruined.
Ordered two sandwiches to eat there. This is where things went wrong. 25 minutes later still no sandwiches. We had even told them we were in a rush since we had an appt. We asked several times when will get our sandwiches and we were told should be right up but they didn’t come up. Other people were also very frustrated. One couple demanded their money back and left never getting food. The person at the counter claimed they had a bunch of ordered food. Maybe they were doing a catering because not many people were the store or picking up to go food. We should have been informed up front.
At some point he starts informing a couple of people the wait was very long. We eventually got our food and had to run out of there making it clear this experience was not acceptable. The worse part was the sandwiches were awful, really awful. Especially for the high price.
The place is located off main street in Historic Bordentown. Parking is on the street. Sadly would never return!!
