I love these roadside cafés. It’s where you usually find the friendliest people in the best food. My first visit was for dinner and I got to say I was disappointed in the ribeye steak. Returning the next morning for breakfast was a much better experience. The food is plentiful. The coffee keeps coming and the price is very reasonable. If you have occasion to stop there, don’t forget to pay a visit to the museum right next-door.

Stopped in for a quick bite when heading out of Death Valley. Probably the freshest salad I had in a few days hopping across DVNP restaurants.
The place has a historical old saloon feel, probably because it is for all intents and purposes the same building as the first settlers built it.
Over and above, the people running the place are friendly and polite. 5/5!

Stopped here hungrily for a late lunch with my family, following some post exploring at Death Valley. Understood there weren’t many options in the stretch down to Tecopa, but knew this would most likely be our most promising stop, and WOW – we are so glad we did.
Shout out to Michelle who was so attentive, thoughtful and charming! We truly enjoyed our spread … what we thought would be a simple chips & salsa for the group to casually share was a beautiful basket of these giant sized, warm & crispy tortilla chips and a serving of their signature cactus salsa – SO GOOD! House-made chili = So comforting and flavorful – a must order! Burgers and enchiladas were prepared super well = DEVOURED! Michelle even sent us off with a fresh to-go cup of iced coffee for the road.
As a couple of chefs, we can appreciate a really good meal and this checked off all the markings of a special spot that cares about the all-around experience, from the delicious food to the wonderful service. Truly lovely and one of the highlights of our little family trip. Thanks y’all!

A very small time feel diner. I walked in the cafe and was greeted with friendly service. I had the cheese burger and coleslaw. The burger and juicy, buns toasted just right. Coleslaw was fine.
They have free Wi-Fi here — huge life saver because I had both T-Mobile and Verizon, and neither of them had coverage in Shoshone.
I’d say the prices are where I’d expect for a small business. Definitely a good spot to eat while your electric car charges next door.

Food safety issue. Keep driving. You literally need razor sharp teeth to bite into a Reuben. The meat was like trying to bite into a leather belt and not edible. The slices of meat were mostly fat. It went straight to the trashcan. The french fries, while freshly cut, were cold and limp when served. The Club Burger tasted like a frozen patty and didn’t have bacon on it, which is what they advertised in their menu. The potato salad had way too many onions in it. Not my jam. The staff seemed frazzled and overworked, and the kitchen was slow to make orders. I was told 20 to 25 minutes for a takeout and it was over 45 minutes before my food was served. I ordered straight off the menu, no special requests.

Dined here Saturday night. Michelle was super friendly and sweet. The burger, fries and cold coke in a frosted mug were so good! Perfect place to go eat after a day in the national park and staying in Shoshone.

This is a good little spot before heading into Death Valley National Park, about an hour before. But great food and staff very friendly. Being the middle of nowhere food was what would expect and prices fair.

We came here, pretty hungry, after spending the day in Death Valley. Call this a captive audience meal as you don’t have much to choose from in the desert! After a couple of expensive Coor’s Lights, I had the dinner salad (good) and the Rattlesnake Chili (bad). Was hoping for something with a kick or spice level, but it tasted like canned chili from Dollar Tree. Really not good. Avoid. Her Fish Tacos were decent so you may want to pick and choose.
Our server, Rachel, was new and couldn’t really help us out on the menu.
Hey, gas station across the street and a bag of chips saved me in the end!

Let me just say, this place is AWESOME! Definitely a must stop especially if you’re passing through on your way into Death Valley. The food here is excellent, the service even better and super friendly and what can I say, they have beer, whiskey and more at the bar! While they do have a cafe style restaurant section on the north side of the building, we chose to dine and imbibe on the saloon side and at the bar and mainly because it’s way more fun. On our last visit, my wife got their grilled cheese sandwich, our friends got a cheese burger and I got a BLT that was outstanding. I mean really, the bacon was cooked perfectly and it was simply delicious. While I got potato salad that was just as good, everyone else got fries which were nice and hot out of the frier and we had a Stella to wash it all down. Of course, the atmosphere of the place is exactly what you’d expect to find out in the desert and it’s perfect. And, I should note that they made some nice improvements to the inside since our last visit about a year ago and even the restrooms have been updated. I would highly recommend you visit this establishment if only to see how cool it is. Be sure to read up on the history of this place and check out all the cool stuff outside as well.
