Stopped by Cross Ties Coffee in Falkville as a Huntsville passersby, and it was a great little surprise. The shop has a warm, beautifully designed interior, good outdoor seating, and a Little Free Library inside the café. The staff and locals were friendly and easy to talk to, creating a very welcoming atmosphere.
It’s veteran-owned, with a quality coffee bar, fair prices, and beans sourced from The Foundry Roastery in Huntsville. There’s also a hidden, cozy study/work area behind the bar that adds to the charm. They offer baked goods and a food menu as well, though I didn’t try them on this quick stop.
Great coffee, great people, and an inviting space worth visiting.

I was in Hartselle about a month ago and realized Falkville wasn’t too much further away. I wanted to try a new-to-me coffee shop and so I made the drive down to try out Cross Ties.
The Falkville downtown is very small and quaint but cute. There’s street parking right in front of the shop and I nabbed a spot. I walked into a really adorable environment – it felt super homey and several people were at work on laptops or chatting. They also had a few selections of local crafts and gifts, which I enjoyed checking out.
They have small bites and cafe type breakfast and lunch items (eg paninis, breakfast sandwiches, cookies, muffins, etc) and an extensive hot and iced drink menu. They did have some Valentine’s Day styled seasonal specialty lattes advertised, but I didn’t really like the sound/flavor combinations of any of them. Instead, I was able to build my own latte with flavor add-ins, which is nice. I ordered an iced latte with dark chocolate and maybe cinnamon? It’s been a while since my visit but I seem to recall cinnamon.
The service was adequate; my drink was ready in a timely fashion and the barista checked to see if I wanted an alternative milk. However, I didn’t get the most friendly vibe and when I asked about the specialty drinks (e.g., which one is your favorite?) the answer was pretty flat and noncommittal. Idk, just a slightly weird vibe. Nothing crazy unpleasant, I just didn’t feel very welcome, I guess. No biggie, I wanted to start the drive home anyway.
I enjoyed my drink. It was nicely balanced and I could definitely taste the dark chocolate. And, unless I’m hallucinating this memory/flavor add-in, the cinnamon gave it a nice kick. It was a pleasant pick-me-up on the ride home.
If you’re in the area, I’d recommend stopping by for a tasty drink and some fun decor/gift shopping.

This place is an absolute gem! Cross Ties Coffee Company is exactly what Falkville needed. The location on Railroad Ave is perfect; being in a historic building right by the tracks gives it such a unique and charming atmosphere that harks back to the golden age of the railroad. The interior is incredibly cozy, spotless, and beautifully decorated. I ordered a latte and some fresh pastry, and both were top-notch. The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive—you can really feel that genuine Southern hospitality here. Whether you’re just passing through or you’re a local, you definitely need to stop by for an inspired break and a great cup of coffee!

We made an unexpected stop in this little town to get coffee and what an amazing surprise! We ended up getting lunch to go. the sandwiches and cookies were fresh and very delicious. The lady owner is former military as is one in of us. Thanks very much for your service! We travel regularly to Huntsville for work and will make this stop frequently going forward. The services was very welcoming and your restaurant is superb.
