Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. I’ve visited this location three times now because I wanted to give this new locally owned restaurant a fair chance, but I’ve been disappointed on all three occasions. Each time I’ve visited this far has been through the drive through.
As I stated previously, each visit has been through the drive-thru, and every time the French fries have been severely undercooked. For a place with the word “Crispy” in its name, the fries should never be soggy. And the fries have consistently been soggy each and every time which is unsettling at $4.99 for the side item!
On this visit I had the burger which had several issues. The wrapper was cold to the touch, and the bun of my burger was inexplicably wet – WET – not from a juicy burger, because the burger itself wasn’t juicy at all. It felt like the bun had been dropped in water or something similar before being served. The cheese on my cheeseburger was also cool and unmelted, as you can see in the photos provided.
I don’t understand why customers are NOT able to substitute French fries with sweet potatoe fries when they have the same cost on the menu. I wouldn’t mind it being an upsell to substitute sweet potato fries over regular fries as long as I still receive the discount for the combo meal (like you can do at almost any other restaurant). Two of my three visits have been met with dissatisfaction because I was not able to make an adjustment/ substitution to the standard combo.
Either the workers have not been empowered to make the changes, the POS doesn’t support it (which should be addressed swiftly), or management has made a bad decision which in itself will kill business.
The boba tea is priced about $1–$2 higher than what other shops charge in Lafourche Parish (Thibodaux area specifically) and our surrounding parishes. While the tea itself tasted very good, the boba was unfortunately the worst part of the experience (this is disheartening given this is most locals first boba tea experience).
The texture of the boba was like chewing gummy worms while drinking tea, which really threw everything off. I’m not an expert on boba, but typically the pearls provide a burst of flavor when you bite into them, adding something unique to the drink. In this case, the boba didn’t add anything. The boba actually took away from the flavor of the tea and made me truly regret spending more than twice as much for my drink compared to a regular fountain drink. The tea had great potential, but the quality of the boba needs improvement for the drink to be enjoyable.
I know many people in the area, myself included, who really want this business succeed. But unless the quality of the food improves significantly – and soon – I’m concerned this new establishment won’t last beyond the next year. Which I truly hate saying but I feel strong words are needed here if there is any hope for the owners and management to make change happen so this business can be successful!
Edit: I received a response from the business owner. The owner stated that they are aware of the issues mentioned and a few others not mentioned in my earlier feedback. The response didn’t elaborate on a time frame or how they intent to resolve any of the issues mentioned in my review. I hope the issues cited in my review can be resolved before the new year.
I fully intend to visit the restaurant before the end of the South Lafourche Basketball season has ended.
