There was a line out the door to order when we arrived, but it moved pretty quickly. This is definitely a casual pop-in spot: you order, get seated, food comes out fast, you eat, and you’re on your way. No fuss, just good food.
Every item was seasoned really well, the birria was rich and flavorful, and the pho had a great spicy depth. Portions were generous and perfect for sharing.
Simple setup, great execution. We’ll definitely be back!
Even though I opted for the patio seating the interior was spacious and clean. No line at 1pm, friendly staff and my meal was delivered quickly. I LOVE the Mexican spin on old favorites. I would love to have one close to me downtown Dallas, but i will be coming back to sample a bunch of other items and will update the review soon. Shoutout to the staff who were super pleasant, checked on the patio patrons 4 different times. Incredible service, well worth the price AND the drive no matter where you are coming from. Do yourself a “flavor” and eat here, you won’t be disappointed.
I ordered the seasonal heart shaped tray that had the angry birria consome, 4 birria tacos with cilantro and onions and a lime, I decided to be extra and get the spicy chili wings with a side of ranch and their horchata drink.
Everything was a 12/10! I really did enjoy my second time here at Cris & John and even with the distance, I shall return! Love the new layout and design of the building and next time, will take photos with the balloons and all. Thanks to the team that took our order, kept checking if we needed anything and made sure that everything was fine for us from top to finish!
Management is doing an AMAZING job! Keep it up <3
We were told everything we ordered was spicy, and we were excited because we like spice. Honestly, it wasn’t really spicy at all which was a let down. But everything was DELICIOUS! It was my first time having pho and I would definitely order it again. The birria tacos and bao buns were unique and cooked perfectly! The wings were cooked well and the bang bang sauce was good. While the drinks were all good, our favorite was the lychee peach tea. The drinks were cafe quality and would definitely get again.
All of the staff were kind. Thankfully a table opened up for us to sit at by the time we ordered our food. The music was great and our food came out quickly. I know they just moved, but they definitely need more space. By the time we left the line was already out the door and into the parking lot. We’ll probably order to go from now on. Wishing them continued success!!
I watched a party of two get seated at a four-person table while a two-person table sat empty and just needed to be cleaned. The line stretched all the way to the business next door, yet there were several empty tables waiting to be wiped down. There was only one person cleaning, which really slowed the flow of seating.
When we asked our waitress for ketchup and more napkins, it took quite a while. One staff member mentioned that service was delayed because people were going on lunch breaks. For how busy it gets, they really need better coverage. Having one or two floaters—one for the kitchen and another for the dining area—would make a big difference on days like this.
This restaurant would benefit from a reservation system or table service setup.
I’d visit again, but probably not until next year when the TikTok rush dies down or they improve their system.
The staff was friendly, but they ask for tips at the register after a two-hour wait, and since the servers only deliver food with no added service, I don’t think tipping is necessary.
The food was good and served hot, which helped make up for the long wait.
If Vietnamese and Mexican food had a wildly talented, slightly unhinged (in a good way) foodie baby… this would be it.
Cris & John is one of those places where you look at the menu and immediately go, “Wait… you can DO that??” — tacos, birria, wings, pho, loaded fries, fusion everything — and somehow it all works.
We ordered one of the big trays and it was STACKED.
Birria tacos? Juicy and cheesy and messy in the best way.
Wings? Sticky, saucy, and addictive.
Loaded fries with the sunny-side egg? Absolutely feral behavior (compliment).
And that dipping consommé/sauce situation?? I wanted to drink it.
Portions are huge, flavors are bold, and everything tastes like it was made with zero fear.
The vibe inside is just as fun — bright yellow walls, neon signs, colorful chairs, chill energy, and super friendly staff. It feels casual and cozy but still special enough for a date night or celebration.
Honestly this is the kind of place where you bring friends, order way too much food, and share everything.
Come hungry. Leave obsessed.
