There’s nothing that will ruin an otherwise good meal, and attitude, like overpaying for something like this. Deddy wanted me to bring him some sweet potato fries and this is what they gave me. I think it’s well past time to change the oil in that fryer. Charged me $10 for these. Disappointed.

The food was excellent. The salad bar was the best I’ve had in awhile. My partner would taste the mayo in the thousand island dressing. He doesn’t like mayonnaise. Thats why he tasted it. I couldn’t tell because I love mayonnaise.

Catfish was ok, sweet potato fries were cold and under cooked. Salad bar was good but I don’t even remember what my main dish was. Way to many better catfish places nearby to ever go again.

First off, it tookover 30 minutes to get our food. They lost our order. I had the whole catfish plate. The catfish was very dry. I have never had dry catfish before. My husband had the hamburger steak meal. It had a dark brown gelatenous gravy on it. Totally nasty!! The baked potato and hushpuppies were good.
We spent almost fifty dollars on meals that were not worth eating!! We will not be back. I hated to write this review as I always try to support the small businesses but with money hard to come by these days I just can’t support this place.

Decent little spot in the middle of nowhere. Free salad bar and dessert with any entree over $10 i believe. The catfish is fantastic. I wouldn’t order the steak unless you like it cooked through. The prices are a bit high, so if you’re looking for a good steak, spend the extra $$ and go to a proper steakhouse like The Silo or STK.

We both had ribeyes with a baked potato. Both were delicious…cooked just right and so tender. The salad bar has lots of items to choose from. Their are so many choices in the menu. Worth the drive out there.

I got steak, a baked potatoe and that comes with the salad and dessert bar. I cannot express how welcome the people make you feel. The potatoe was cooked wonderfully, the steak was tender, juicy and cooked how I ordered. The salad and dessert bar had a variety of options.

My husband got the seafood platter. I was shocked when he couldn’t finish it. He was very satisfied and it looked as tasty as he said it was.

My daughter got chicken tenders and MIL got hamburger steak. Their fries are fresh cut and delicious.

Highly recommend for the wholsomeness and the good food.

After putting this restaurant on the list to try, we finally got the opportunity to give it a shot. We passed this location a few times and each time we would say we need to try it. After reading the reviews I was excited to see if this was as good as it appears. We traveled a little over an hour and got there at around 5:30. We walked in and was greeted and given two menus then told to just find a seat. There were a few open tables so we were able to get seated quickly. The first seating of customers were already eating so that gave us a chance to see what others were eating. Mostly seafood which was a good sign to us. We had our orders taken, catfish and shrimp, then helped ourselves to the salad bar. Nothing fancy, just a good basic salad bar. One note there was no honey mustard dressing, bummer! There are 3 “bars” total that we saw, salad bar, condiment bar, and dessert bar. They do have old fashion cole slaw, very finely grated, it was very good. The salad was ok, and about the time we finished with them we received a drink refill and our dinners arrived. My dinner that I ordered was a fried platter and there were shrimp, fries and hush puppies. It looked very good however I did not like the amount of grease that was coming off the shrimp. The fries were natural cut like you see in the photos and were not bad however very soft and no crispness. The shrimp were very over cooked, a shrimp in a “C” shape is cooked, in an “O” shape they are over cooked, these were in a O shape and almost the consistency of a scallop. The catfish had just been cooked, was hot and fresh! The shrimp and fries were just not at the same level as the catfish and I hated that. Service was good, I feel like you are stepping back in to your grandma’s kitchen and you just need to know that it is a slower pace, not a bad thing.
We did not have a dessert, so I cannot say how they were however they did look homemade.
Two dinners and two drinks with tip came out to $70. $70 seemed to be a bit much for the quality that we received. I have no problems with paying for a meal however this time it was hard to swallow. I am sure that the 5 star ratings may be locals or those that have been there before, unfortunately for us it was not at that level. At a 4.5 total overall star rating I was really hoping that this was going to be a new, out of the way location that we could visit every once in a while.
For now we will just check this off the list and continue the search for new and unique places.
