Crème De La Crème Café is a hidden gem in downtown Riverside—especially considering it’s tucked inside the County Assessor building. If you’ve got an appointment in the building (or you’re just nearby), it’s a perfect spot to grab a coffee and reset for a few minutes.
My drink was smooth and well-made, and the service was genuinely friendly and efficient. The café area felt clean, organized, and surprisingly welcoming for being inside a government building. It’s the kind of place that turns an errand into a little treat.
Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area—great coffee, quick service, and a calm, convenient vibe.
I was confronted by the owner while having personal lunch in the building. Joe was very kind, offered an apology for the poor service & sad bowl that was previously served. We had a nice chat about the person in question and they no longer are employed at the cafe. I was given a replacement bowl to make up for the last, it was made properly. Still had frozen berries, which I agreed to, as they were out of fresh. Kind of a disappointment as Joe assured me there were fresh berries available now.

I work in the building & I order semi regularly from this cafe. Every single time, there is an issue. The “manager” charges differently, for the same item, depending on how she feels at the moment. I have called her out on it, but she’ll make up random excuses for her actions. The order online option for time selection for pickup is more of a guestimation… I’ve waited 10+ min for orders on numerous occasions; all while they’re not busy and the order is scheduled 15+ min in advance.
Today was a new & fun experience, they’re getting stingy with their acai bowls. They haven’t had proper stock for the items included in the bowls for quite sometime but today, while waiting and watching my bowl be made, I noticed that the employee filled the bowl with excessive amounts of granola. I asked if this was new, she stated this is how she always makes them. I’ve ordered this particular bowl 5+ times and never seen that much granola. Photo below is after I physically dumped out all loose granola. Also, the 16 oz bowl will run you $9+… I’ve included a photo to show the excessive amounts of “filler”
The staff are rude and inconsistent, the food is overpriced and mediocre… the only benefit is location but they’re never open during the actual hours stated, either late to open and/or early to close.
Most, if not all, their bakery items look like they come from costco’s bakery section. They had a few times were they sold what looked like non store bought muffins but that was only for a short period.
Coffee is pretty good though.
I would try the Angus burger next time.
Side salad was fresh yes, but unimpressive.
I can’t wait to try more of their sandwiches
