Crechale’s is a restaurant that I’ve always heard of and I’ve wanted to try out for many years. I live about 1.5 hours away so I’m not in Jackson very often and when I am I’m usually passing through or I’m not in the area. My wife and I heard about the owner passing away and that the restaurant may be closing so we decided to make a special trip there. We stepped in the door just after 4pm and we were seated at one of the last two available tables. We loved the old diner ambiance and quickly there was a long line of others waiting for a table. We ordered the onion rings for an appetizer (they were very good) and we had a salad with their famous comeback sauce. My wife ordered the fried shrimp with french fries and I ordered the ribeye with a baked potato. Our entrees came out with two hot yeast rolls. My wife and I were very pleased with our selections….the shrimp were very fresh and came with tartar sauce (the tartar sauce is dill based) which my wife loves. The ribeye had a really good flavor and the baked potato was perfectly done. Crechale’s is a classic restaurant with plenty of nostalgia to spare and the food is really good. The waitresses were extremely busy but made their job look easy. Definitely a 5 star experience at this classic!!

So since Crechale’s announced they were closing it has been jam packed! It used to be easy stop here for a quick meal… now expect to wait at least an hour or more for a seat. They open at 4pm and I arrived a bit before 4:30 and they were already selling out of things. It was crowded but not crazy crowded so I was surprised they had so quickly sold out of things. They also seemed to be very slow at getting tables cleaned up and ready for the next guests. Obviously the very above normal crowds visiting for one last hurrah are far above what the staff are used to dealing with.

When I finally got seated I was able to order an iced tea and water which are served in tiny little glasses. I NEVER got my iced tea refilled… My salad came out but no silverware to eat it with which I did get silverware about 15 minutes later. The first thing I ordered was sold out so I went with my second choice which they still had. I started out with my tiny salad which was OK then I had onion rings which were very good. For my main course I had stuffed shrimp which were alright but I have had far better ones. So then the check arrived and for the cost and really bad service it simply wasn’t worth it. I still left a 20% tip which absolutely was not earned but this was my goodbye to this joint and I won’t ever be back as they are soon closing forever. I wish my last visit could have been better…

My dad used to go to this place as a kid and took me there while I was growing up. They set the standard on a good trout, comeback sauce, onion rings, and amazing service. The owner has recently passed away. With his passing the restaurant has permanently closed. It’s heartbreaking that such an amazing person has passed on.

I have eaten at Crechales’s all my life almost, since the early 1950’s/ my parents would take me in my footed p.js. while they ate their dinner. I would fall asleep in 1 iof those iconic round booths/later to b carried out by my Dad afterwards. Even several guys 1 dated in my teenage years, we would always go on dates there, too. After I married Birthdays & Christmas Eve /many holidays were a “HAVE TO” be spent there…if u ate there U were special on any occasion. On Birthdays you were sang HBD to the old juke box blasting loudly to the HBD song by patrons ,servers & Bob too whlie being served your very own homemade choc.pie w/a lit candle in it….Bob truly was a friend to all, my life was exceptionally special on any & every occasion I walked thru his door. Those wonderful onion rings, the comeback sauce & an entree of many favorites.. A LIFETIME OF BEST MEMORIES, FOOD & SPECIAL TIMES SPENT….my life has been changed yet again & I shall treasure these memories forever God Bless all who knew, enjoyed Bob, his gift of friendship & good food….ALWAYS he shall be missed

Growing up this was my mom’s favorite place to get a steak. I finally went myself for nostalgia and a good steak. Mine and a friend’s birthdays. It was good. The area is not. It’s pricey for the spot and what you get. I’m glad I finally went.

I have been going to Crechales for over 40 years. When I transferred here from Wisconsin – this is the place my boss took me for dinner. I have not found a tastier filet since. It’s my go to for family visits, birthdays & anytime I’m craving a delicious steak.

I have loved this place since I was a teenager (almost 65 now) I have never once gotten anything that was less than perfect! Yes depending on when you arrive you may have to wait in the parking lot. Bring a camping chair if you can’t stand or lean. Bob’s friendly self will be missed for sure.

It’s old. You sink in the booth. And it the most amazing, retro, fun experience I’ve ever had in Jackson! It’s warm. And inviting.

We have eaten at Crechales since we were both young kids & enjoy taking our own girls now. Food is so delicious that we always leave way too full. I get the broiled scallops or stuffed shrimp because no other restaurant can come close to me on those. Their steak is prime beef so my husband always chooses it. Large portions & great, friendly service! We end up leaving with a bottle of the best comeback sauce too every time. Can’t recommend this nostalgic place enough, especially if it’s for a birthday!

This place is amazing! The whole staff is super friendly, they are funny, and the owner, Mr. Bob is one of the nicest people I’ve met in the jackson area. The stuffed shrimp is amazing! The onion rings are crispy and delicious, and their house sauce is the best comeback sauce I’ve had- and you can buy some to take home! Go have your next date night here. The retro cafe with a jukebox is like taking a step back in time.
