I’m confused by the other reviews that spoke of the lack of food quality and quantity given. Everything was amazing. My friend who is dining with me is not a big fan of Mexican ….ordered additional food to go. Side note if your looking for nachos and tacos that the typical American restaurants provide this is not it. It is authentic Mexican food, slow cooked with fresh ingredients prepared to order. We had 4 versions of the empanadas and the nachos. The chorizo empanadas were mouth watering. The pineapple juice and guava both made fresh. Service was great as well. Heidi waited on us and explained in great detail all our questions. Definitely on my top 5 places to eat/order out. They deliver also! Just a little disappointed that I have to travel from southern dutchess to get here. Next time I am in Poughkeepsie I will definitely be back.

I wish I had thought to take pictures. But the picture would not have shown exactly why it was so bad. My main dish was so salty it was inedible. The side dish of rice on the other hand, was so bland that it was more like a colored orange/red mush. This is actually the harshest review I have given I believe, but it could not be helped since I try to state what I had experienced. My friend also could not eat her meal, that I should perhaps have taken a picture of but that was not what I had ordered. I will never come here again. The waitress was also our cook and she seemed to have a health issue with her eye, be it a bad sty or pink eye. It was very inflamed and puffed out.

This excellent Oaxacan restaurant is only half a block from the Empire State Trail. We had lunch here during a long bicycle tour and were entirely satisfied. This is a cuisine that is not so commonly encountered in the US, but is well-represented here. Many of the other diners were Mexican themselves, testifying to its authenticity.

A true authentic gem! The proprietor is so accommodating and caring, it’s like you’re family and she’s cooking for you in her home. As a vegetarian, I’m always happy and well-fed here. (Also, the portions are enormous.) Her agua frescas and horchata are divine. Cash only, which isn’t convenient for us as we never carry cash—but this marvelous place is well worth a trip to the ATM!
