Social Profile:

Around 1900, The Crazy Horse edifice was built as a hotel, which supported the local train station that was across the way. As time progressed, this area of Bloomington became known as the levee, and it was considered the rough side of town. Rumor has it that the upstairs to this building, which now houses the offices of The Crazy Horse, used to be a brothel. In 1979, new ownership took over and renamed the establishment the Gentry Remedy Co. The name corresponded to Gentry Street, which runs perpendicular to Kirkwood, behind what is now the Hyatt hotel. There are still signs of the Gentry Remedy Co. as you look at the etched glass above the patio doors. In 1981, the bar was remodeled and was renamed Crazy Horse. This is the 44th year!

Old-timey American eatery & bar in an 1880s hotel offers a sizable beer list & daily drink specials.

What a cool place in a historic building. Very interesting decor. We were just getting minimal food as we were eating shortly after. Appetizers included delicious wings, a hummus platter and some chicken tenders. All were very good and our server was fast and very nice. Love ymto cone back some time.

Went here to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. Our server was a bit busy but it’s a good experience and solid food.

We shared everything we ordered and it was walking distance from our hotel. Always enjoy stopping here for food.

Typically I go to the Crazy Horse for lunch and get the half soup/ half sandwich combo. The 2 soups rotate and while it doesn’t fill the void ledt by Darn Good Soup it is a reasonable option as the soups are pretty solid.

A few highlights besides the soup are a solid bourbon offering at the bar, the best fried mozzarella sticks in town since Opie Taylors closed. Marks Cuban their take on a Cuban sandwich is tasty, the Shrimp Po Boy (pictured) is solid and they have a good pork tenderloin sandwhich which is of course an Indiana staple.

Overall the menu is has a good offering of shareables, bar food, salads and sandwhiches its a pretty vintage old bar and since Irish Lion closed one of the few long time fixtures on the square still standing.

I walked in to place a carry out order and the staff were super friendly and attentive. I ordered the cuban sandwhich and chicken tortilla soup. The soup was an absolute 10/10, just WOW!!! The sandwhich was a solid 8/10, as it does not have a sauce on it and was just a bit dry, but still great flavor. Would be really good with some barbecue sauce. Overall definitely recommend

we love this old place. it feels haunted. it’s been around. we are not meat eaters so i can say we’ve only ever had fish and chips, fish tacos and the salmon. last time i was there i had salmon and brussel sprouts – and it was very satisfying. i loved it. the service is kind of hilarious, it’s hit or miss. sometimes it’s a brand new person and sometimes it’s someone who’s been there awhile. we just try to go with the flow. i like eating outside there when we can. my son really loves the fish and chips and the french fries. the grilled piece of bread is delicious! we also like that they’re open later than a lot of the restaurants around this part of town.

The food was fresh, delicious, great presentation, but a bit too salty for my taste. Other than that, absolutely no complaints.

The service was awesome. From the front door to my table and afterwards. No issues, no problems, nothing but smiles and respect. Brody was my waiter/server and he did an excellent job.

Absolutely love the atmosphere. Old school downtown vibes, the aesthetic is very pleasing, great smells, lots of wonderful looking light fixtures.

Overall a great place to sit down and eat. Not expensive, great vibes, and great times. Would recommend!

I called asking about there fish sandwich.i was told it was a large piece of fish with chips.so I ordered and went to pick it up.the place had an unpleasant smell, and the hostess ask for my payment before she even went to the kitchen to retrieve my food.I checked my food and waited for someone to come back to the front to ask about what they were giving me.she said she had to get a manager. Who informed me that it’s not a big piece of fish they told me I’d get but a lot of fish.she even stopped me after I said ok thank you to say have you paid for it.Really! It’s dry and tasteless.

This establishment rejected my valid drivers license saying I was not 21 years old (I turn 22 in a month.) I offered multiple forms of identification after which I was told to leave, and the manager (female with brown hair) came up with a nasty attitude, screamed in my face, and kicked me and my friends out for no reason other than they were trying to defend me. She refused to even check my ID and instead demanded that I leave, even though I politely tried to explain the situation. This establishment and their staff are incredibly disrespectful and you should not go in here if you respect yourselves or the people around you. They should be embarrassed and ashamed of the way they treat their customers and I hope they conduct themselves in a more professional manner in the future. Disgusting, I wish I could leave 0 stars.

Was in the mood for some good ole fashioned Middle of the country American food. So I headed on over to Crazy Horse. Very conveniently located in the downtown area near campus, it’s a fun pub vibe. Got a spicy margarita to start my dinner and it was fine, I actually don’t know if there was any alcohol in it. But go here expecting mostly sandwiches and bar type food. The service was great and I sat outside since it was a pretty perfect night. I was feeling a burger (they have an entire page of the menu dedicated to it) and built one with Beer Cheese, bacon jam and poblano peppers. I was disappointed they recommend the burger to be cooked to medium but it wasn’t too dry. The double burger was kind of hard to eat and a touch messy but that’s the charm right? Overall it was a great burger with good flavor. I recommend checking it out if you are on campus for a game.

First time here visiting from out of town and had a great experience. Service was top notch, solid beer selection. Amazing whiskey selection and the steak I had was pretty damn good. Would definitely come again if I was in the area.
