What stood out most to me, surprisingly, was the atmosphere. I’m not usually someone who notices décor much, but this visit was different. The restaurant still had Christmas decorations up well past the holidays, and on Valentine’s Day no less. It wasn’t offensive, just odd—and noticeable enough that it became a topic of conversation at the table. It slightly took away from what should have been a more romantic, intentional vibe for the occasion.
Service was fine and the setting is generally comfortable, but at this price point, details matter. Seasonal décor lingering into mid-February felt like a miss.
Overall, Crave delivers good food, but between the cost and the small but distracting details, it didn’t quite live up to the expectations that come with a special-occasion dinner.
They didn’t even bother refilling our drinks.
To make matters worse, the food sat out for a while until one of the runners brought it to the server area and pretended it had just been served.
The food was excellent. I had the Thai steak, and my wife ordered the chicken rice bowl—both were delicious and well-prepared.
They also have a full bar with a solid wine selection and plenty of great non-alcoholic options. Overall, a wonderful experience, and we’ll definitely be back!
That’s when I spotted Crave across the street and I’m so glad we gave it a try!
I ordered the Steak frites, cooked medium rare, and it was absolutely delicious, easily the best meal we’d had since arriving. It came with truffle fries and asparagus. My only small critique is that the fries portion was a bit much, and I would’ve loved more asparagus to balance the plate. Other than that, the dish was perfect.
Before ordering any other drinks, I started with a double shot of espresso, mainly because I’ve had a string of disappointing coffee experiences in Minnesota so far. As someone who makes espresso at home on my own machine, I could tell right away that the grind was too coarse. The shot tasted overly bitter, and the volume was too large for a proper double, which reinforced my thought that the grind and extraction time were off. Because of that, I decided not to order any additional coffee drinks and we just stuck with water for the rest of the meal.
My boyfriend ordered the burger, also medium rare, with a side salad. I tasted the salad and was genuinely impressed the balsamic dressing was so good, even for someone like me who’s not usually a fan. He said the burger could’ve used a bit more seasoning, but it was still a solid step up from what we had previously.
The restaurant is located in one of the newer malls in the area very stylish, clean, and with friendly staff. Overall, we gave the experience an 8 out of 10. Nearly perfect, and such a welcome surprise after a rough start with food and coffee in Minnesota. We’re so glad we ended up at Crave!
We started with the calamari. Fantastic appetizer! I was not real hungry and I just wanted something light so I got the Poke bowl. The vegetables were natural flavors only but the salmon flavor was fantastic! Everything was beautifully plated.
Service wasn’t bad but it was a little on the slow side. I can not fault them for this however because this was most likely due to some kind of high school formal event, the place was packed, obviously a local hot spot for finer dining. Prices were a bit on the expensive side but not unreasonable, we averaged $40 a person with 3 of us.
We have a Crave in Sioux Falls also. I have been there but that we before I started writing reviews. I don’t recall being as impressed with the Sioux Falls Crave as I was with this one, I will have to go back and check it out.
Beautiful restaurant and delicious food. Definitely worth a visit!
