On Tuesday, my coworker and I set off to explore downtown Greer, and we stumbled upon an amazing gem! When we asked two friendly ladies for dining recommendations, they couldn’t stop raving about Crate. Their enthusiastic descriptions had us hooked, so we decided to give it a shot, and boy, are we glad we did!
As soon as we entered, we were greeted warmly by the owner and their family, making us feel right at home. After diving into the menu and hearing about the mouthwatering specials, we couldn’t resist ordering the oxtails and grits, paired with a side of greens. And let me tell you, we were absolutely blown away! The portion sizes were generous, and the flavors were simply out of this world. The oxtails were so tender they practically melted off the bone, and those blue grits—oh my goodness—were worth the two hours they advised it took to prepare. They were nothing short of divine!
My coworker also decided to order a strawberry salad topped with salmon home for lunch the next day. The staff were incredibly thoughtful, carefully separating all the ingredients to keep her salad fresh and crisp. That little touch made all the difference!
The whole experience was filled with delightful service, and we had a fantastic time chatting with everyone at the establishment. The food was exceptional, and I enthusiastically recommend that anyone within an hour’s drive make a beeline for Crate if they appreciate amazing cuisine!

The food, service and atmosphere is awesome. Seriously, this place is a gem. We tried 4 different drinks and the we’re all amazing. The food was top notch. Kudos to the chef! We had lobster sliders, crawfish egg rolls and crab cakes. Each one was the bomb but especially the crawfish egg rolls. I’m going to crave those. Our bartender, Embrey, was a lot of fun. 5 stars PLUS.

I had the pleasure of dining at Crate Restaurant and Wine Bar this evening, and it was a fantastic experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed yet refined evening. We met the new chef, Serenity. She was kind and welcoming and has phenomenal gifts in the kitchen.
For appetizers, I tried the lobster sliders, and they were incredible—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. For my main course, I had the shrimp and grits, which were cooked to perfection. The creamy grits paired beautifully with the juicy shrimp, and the dish was full of bold Southern flavors.
My dining companion had the lobster mac & cheese, which featured a large split lobster tail that was fried and placed on top of the rich, creamy mac and cheese. The lobster was tender and plentiful, adding an extra level of indulgence to the dish.
The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed for a wonderful dining experience. Overall, Crate Restaurant and Wine Bar exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to returning soon! Definitely a new Favorite

New found gem in Greer,SC. We were out that night for a good meal. Ended up with one of the best meals I had in the area. Both meals were awesome Lobster mac and cheese and Cajun pasta. Note! Please add nice rolls or garlic toast to that meal. Don’t want to leave the sauces on the plate!

Food was stellar, atmosphere was nice but could be scaled up a bit to be on par with the food offerings. The wine selection was limited for a wine bar and they were out of my first choice. Service is a difficult one to rate because it was both top notch and just good enough depending on whom was serving at the time.

Don’t expect to be greeted at the door at Crate Restaurant (more like pub). I guess this is kind of place where you need to choose a table yourself. There was only one waitress working on a Saturday night. And it seemed that she was having kind of a bad day. First, after taking the orders she came back to double check what was ordered. Besides, one of the orders at our table was a mix-up and we had to wait for them to fix it. Also we were waiting almost an hour for our food. And it took about 40 minutes to get a check/pay. In the summary, we had very slow service, average food, hence three star review.

A wonderful place to take your loved 14 anniversary or birthday. Food is high quality made fresh and delicious. Best thing is the wednesday night karaoke. All I can say is the chef There knows what he is doing and deserves rase.

I took my wife out for a dinner date as we haven’t enjoyed downtown Greer since we moved here. The atmosphere/aesthetic is a 10; the wait time and dining experience is a 2. We were there from 6pm to 8pm – we waited a total of 90min for food and drinks, while the restaurant only had 4 other patrons to tend to (23min to get our wine and water, 20min to PLACE the dinner order, and 45min to RECEIVE the dinner order). The filet mignon medallion presentation was lacking and MUCH smaller than expected – 6 or 7 medallions, with (pretty greasy) potato strings, all presented in a martini glass… for $16.95. Small portions are forgivable (if not expected at nicer restaurants), but excessive wait times – especially when the restaurant has no more than 6 customers on a Saturday night – is inexcusable.

This is best place I’ve been in Greer, SC. My girlfriend and I are originally from Maryland and are down here for a wedding. Saw this place on Yelp, gave it a shot and it was so worth it. We aren’t people who are usually in a rush and they took their time with the food which I loved. I don’t want a quick meal that comes out in 10 minutes. They took their time and it really paid off with how quality the food was. The music was fantastic, food was to die for. Highly recommend the Lobster Sliders if they’re on the menu as well as the Charcuterie board! Also, huge shoutout to Jason our server. He was such a nice guy, and gave us great service.
