I want to give thanks to the gentleman who answered the phone when we called about our reservation and got us in as soon as we arrived. They didn’t ask, but it was my birthday and this was a very special dinner for me and my husband. We happened to visit at what seemed the busiest day so I appreciated prompt seating. Our waiter was ok – tall Caucasian male – didn’t get his name. He took our order, came to check on us once and upon bringing us the check he made a comment about the last two weeks “definitely not fun for me” while he sighed with annoyance. I understand it was busy, but small towns like Solvang make their money from tourists – I’d think he’d be happy to work hard two weeks and enjoy the calm after the holidays. He didn’t make me feel welcomed as a guest. I want to spotlight the girl who brought out our food and drinks. (Think soft spoken Caucasian). She was very helpful when asked about certain things on the menu.
Drinks were delicious too. Their old fashioned was one of the best I’ve had recently. Also recommend the fettuccine prawns, the spicy sauce on it was great.
For dessert we got the beignets and the panna cotta. I am allergic to gluten but I risked a bite on the beignets and it WAS worth it. For drinks I really recommend the sweet heart sour (or whatever the kumquat drink is, it’s served with a little pastry and it was great) or the kiss from a rose drink. Their espresso martini could use a little work but I am also an espresso martini snob.
Overall, great restaurant, it’s clear they have a really dedicated team. I even met the manager/owner who was very passionate and spoke highly of everything. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in the area.
Ryan was the server, he was very nice and did a great job.
2nd day we came back for drinks, Christian helped us and was nice and welcoming.
The bar is over twenty feet long, and appeared to be well stocked and seats are accommodatingly spaced.
Plenty of indoor seating options, bar, high tables and chairs, booths and lower tables and chairs. Plus, there is an expansive outdoor, heated patio with umbrellas. Thursday, early evening, and there was a musician setting up on the patio!
Our server couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive.
We had the Bianco pizza, the crust was perfection and the toppings all were high quality and tasty.
The Wedge Salad had plenty of bacon bits and blue cheese crumbles to keep it interesting.
The crispy Brussels sprouts were tasty, plenty of garlic, but a little bit too soggy because it appeared the kitchen applied too much olive oil.
Considering the upscale type of restaurant and cuisine, the bill was not outrageous. One might even say that by ordering off the Happy Hour menu, it was quite reasonable. ( I noted that we saved about $10 , compared to the regular menu prices.) But, even the regular menu was not over the top on prices.
I definitely will return, the next time we are in town!
I would not go back for the food. The Brussels sprouts were the highlight of the meals though.
