Very disappointing visit — especially for seniors and accessibility

We came to Cracker Barrel today with my 83-year-old mother-in-law, who uses a walker. She had thoughtfully called ahead to make a reservation so she wouldn’t have to stand or wait long. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told there was no reservation, and she still ended up waiting 20 extra minutes for a table. For someone with mobility issues, that’s a big deal.

The two ladies working the host stand were rude and dismissive when we tried to explain the situation. It felt inappropriate and unkind, especially given her age and the fact that she had tried to do everything right by calling ahead.

While we waited, I had picked out a hoodie to purchase. When our table was finally ready, I politely asked if they could hold it for me. I was told no, very abruptly — and also told I couldn’t take the items with me to our table. The tone was unnecessary and added to an already frustrating experience.

Once we were seated, things improved. Our server was very nice and took good care of us. But even then, the meatloaf was cold, not even warm.

The food and the server were the bright spots, but the check-in process, the lack of accommodation, and the rude treatment overshadowed the visit. For a restaurant that promotes hospitality, today really missed the mark.

I hope management addresses the issues at the host stand — especially regarding seniors, accessibility, and basic courtesy.

Took my wife and daughter here this morning for breakfast . Their first time at Cracker Barrel. They are from Colombia. It’s been a while since I’ve been too. But nice to see it’s the same as it has been. Good ole fashioned country restaurant.
Janet was our server and she took very good care of us. Very on top of everything. The breakfast was delicious as ever. We will be sure to come back. My wife gives it a 10 star out of 10.

We wanted to have an early dinner on a cold day so we headed over to Cracker Barrel for some comfort food! We were greeted by Nick at the host stand with the warmest smile! He seated us quickly and our server, Bella, met us at the table efficiently! She was very friendly and attentive to our requests! My husband and I both had early dinner menu items, which are smaller portions at a lower cost. I had the country chicken and my husband had the meatloaf. Both options come with 2 sides and biscuits or cornbread. Everything was cooked very well and tasty! The manager, David, made time to check on the tables and genuinely seemed to care about his customers and team alike. We enjoy dining at this location, not only for the more reasonable food prices, but for the atmosphere and culture of the team!

I ordered “Grandmas Breakfast” (like I always do) but this time it took an unusually long time to get to our table – And I was completely underwhelmed by the small amount of food and presentation.(see photo). When I brought it up to our waitress, she agreed that it took much too long and plate looked pathetic. She then took my plate back to the kitchen to show the manager who’s solution was to add an extra piece of bacon and ham – Which was transferred from a greasy plate to my plate at our table. It was far from the professional, warm experience that we’re used to. Thanks for listening! Phil and Robin Pierle

We were a part of 8 around 11 today and we sat at the the big corner booth, right past the host stand. Savannah was our server , she was an Absolute Delight! She was so patient, we were there to visit family and my uncle had just passed away this past week so were dealing with alot. Savannah was very patient and understanding. Prompt on her service and everything was very tasty. The Manager on Duty stopped by a few times and I complimented her on Savannah and her service. I forgot the Managers name, but she was awesome too! Thank you so much!

This is under my son’s name, but this is Anthony Spears I live 10 min away from Cracker Barrel, the one just west of 65 off Southport rd, I use to eat there every 2 to 3 weeks sometimes breakfast and sometimes dinner as it was always a good home cooked meal. But over the past couple of years I began noticing the portions kept getting smaller and smaller until you literally were still hungry when you left. I even spoke with a manager one time over a very small piece of meatloaf, and even though they brought me another piece he still told me they have reduced the size of there portions. I am now a 62 year old retired brickmason on disability, and I am not now a complainer, nor have I ever been.Needless to say I found a place where the portions were much larger and about the same price, not quite as tasty but still good, so I didnt return there for a couple of years. Well I woke up one morning and was just craving one of there breakfast meals so I figured I’d give them another chance. I ordered 2 eggs scrambled, an order of biscuits and gravy, 2 pieces of sausage and toast. Welp the sausage was ok as far as the size but lord have mercy I could barely see the scrambled eggs on my plate, it was supposed to be 2 scrambled eggs but looked like barely 1, and as far as the biscuits and gravy there was 1 small biscuit. When they say on menu biscuits and gravy that to me means 2 biscuits or more. So needless to say I left hungry band ended up going to the other place I found so I could at least go home with a full belly. I’m sorry Cracker Barrel, but you had a great bussiness and great food and traded all that good to make a little more money. I doubt I’ll ever go back. I gave them 2 years to figure what was more important to them, and they chose the dollar over the customer Again I’m sorry to post this about ya and its only my opinion.

Had the worst service last night. We go there at least twice a month for breakfast. We went last night for dinner. After we placed our order and got our drinks our server did not come back for about 20 minutes. Then she brought biscuits because the food was taking a little longer. It to took 45 minutes to get our food and that was after I went and found another server and asked for the manager.People who came in after we were sat received their food before we did. I wanted my check for our drinks and we were leaving. The server I flagged down said she was getting our food do we still want it. We got our food and that server refilled our drinks. Not once did we see the server who took our order, not once did we see a manger. I had to ask another server to get our check. I told her we did not know where our server was and I wanted to speak to the manager. The manager sent her back out to get our check. I said that is not we wanted we would pay our own check. We paid and left. They were not busy. No one took accountability. It will be awhile before I go back. I was very disappointed.

Been going to this location for years and never had as good of an experience as we did this weekend. We ordered carry out this particular time and I’m so glad we did. Masey was very knowledgeable of the menu and suggested a couple items we hadn’t had before. Everything was wonderful!

I bought the crispy fried chicken, four pieces of breaded and fried chicken. A good deal for the price, and it looked and smelled wonderful. The breading was not crispy but hard enough to break sensitive teeth. The small amount of chicken meat was overcooked, dry, and some parts had been cooked into shoe leather. I will not be making this mistake again
