The service was excellent. Unfortunately the honey fried chicken that I really wanted was out. I ordered the steak and eggs with pancakes which was ok. The pancakes were awesome but the steak was tough and the eggs were dry. Wasn’t too thrilled but it was ok. We visited on a weather alert day so perhaps they were having some staffing and inventory issues. I would give this Cracker Barrel another chance in the future. Our waitress Tiffany was excellent . We got the cinnamon rolls skillet and one of the $5.00 meals to go. Really good .

I am not a Cracker Barrel fan. But it was late, we were tired and didn’t want fried food. In South Hill that limited uor choices. So cracker Barrel it was.
I decided on pot roast with mashed potatoes and apples. I also ordered a beer.
The meal came in a few minutes. The beef was chunks of meat in a dark gravy. The meat was tough and chewy the gravy heavy. The mashed potatoes tasted like old instant. It was late. I should have known better.
The beer was disappointing. It was listed as an IPA but had no bite at all. There only redeeming quality was that it was served in a small glass so it was gone quickly.
In fairness, the server was prompt and friendly. She was helpful. Saved the three stars.
Big negative, there was a very loud group in the dining room, out of sight but extremely disruptive.

The food was good as usual — consistent comfort food that never misses! The hash was absolutely delicious, and the mimosa was surprisingly tasty (a nice touch for mid road trip). I even ended up buying a cute little fur jacket from the shop for $40 — perfect for dressing up or pairing with joggers for an elevated street look. Always a pleasant stop when passing through South Hill!

We arrived at the restaurant and they were pretty busy: spite all of the business, we were seated and greeted promptly. Samantha was our waitress. She was very pleasant and made sure we were taken care of. I ordered the hamburger steak and gravy, my wife ordered the vegetable plate. The okra was cooked to perfection. It was not slimy at all. The carrots were delightful and the green beans were great as well. We traveled from Va Beach and I will recommend this place to my friends

We were seated promptly and the server Ciara came to us quickly. We ordered the pancakes and they were superb. The manager Debra greeted us and she made her known and that she was there if she needed us. she spoke to us like we were family. I appreciate her being very cordial with us. She made us feel very welcome.

I came in for lunch. I was greeted quickly and seated quickly. I ordered the turkey and dressing. It was very delicious. Some places you go the turkey is dry. This turkey was very moist and the dressing melted in your mouth. Tee made sure everything was great: She was awesome I would recommend this Cracker Barrel to everyone. Very pleasant atmosphere. And they were all friendly.

Visited this location for the first time today and we don’t regret it!! Our waitress was friendly and the food was awesome! Everything came out hot, fresh and cooked exactly as we asked. The restaurant was clean, restrooms too. We will definitely be back!

We had a few reservations about going back after things have declined over the past number of years, however we were pleasantly surprised. We had been going to Cracker Barrel for many years, but the food quality had slowly bit surely gone downhill and we hadn’t been to one for a couple of years. This time, the food was definitely improved.
Their service has almost always been excellent, including this location.

How do you not make sure that you have all you need for a meal you serve especially at 12 noon. The gravy makes the meal when it comes to the fried pork chops, chicken and steak….the brown gravy just does not make up for it not to mention they only give you very little of that for the meat. Then for a serving size you only have 5 small pieces of carrots and when it comes to biscuits and corn muffin you only get butter after 11 am. This is a time Cracker Barrel was a big disappointment and the response to a customer was just not what would bring customers back. SOUTH HILL CRACKER BARREL IS ONE STOP I WONT MAKE AGAIN FOR THE PRICE PAID.
