Stopped in after a long drive. Service was very friendly and the server was polite and attentive, even asking whether I wanted gravy with my mashed potatoes.Unfortunately, I was brought mac & cheese instead of the mashed potatoes I ordered. I didn’t catch it right away and was already halfway through the meal, which was frustrating since I specifically ordered mashed potatoes.Additionally, one of the chicken tenders had a noticeable burn mark and the chicken was slightly firmer than I prefer.the experience wasn’t terrible, but there were enough execution issues that it wasn’t what I was expecting. Service was good, but the food side mix-up and quality inconsistency bring it down a bit.Total was 18.55

I had the best service at the Cracker Barrel in Carlisle, PA. Truly some of the best service I’ve ever experienced at any Cracker Barrel and it was entirely due to our server, Michael. He was friendly, personable, and attentive, handling all of our requests promptly and always with a smile.
My only regret is that I didn’t get a photo of him to share. If you’re looking for exceptional service at a Cracker Barrel and we’ve eaten at several, I highly recommend the Carlisle, PA location and ask for Michael. You won’t be disappointed.
As for the food, it was good and exactly what you’d expect from Cracker Barrel. I tried one of their new menu items, the Maple Bacon Pancake. It was tasty, though definitely rich (a little goes a long way).

Stepping inside, I was warmly greeted and promptly seated. The server was incredibly pleasant and attentive throughout my entire dining experience. The pancake breakfast exceeded all my expectations—the pancakes were piping hot, the eggs were cooked to perfection, and the bacon was crispy. Of course, I couldn’t resist ordering fresh coffee, and several servers diligently refilled it as they passed by, attending to other occupied tables. It was truly a delightful experience, and it was well worth the time we spent on our rather long cross-state road trip. The only negative I could think of is that I simply overindulged in quality, prepared, and served food!

We stopped for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated fairly quickly. Our server Audrey was amazing. The bad experience we encountered was the food. Our biscuits were extremely hard, steak was over cooked, baked potato was way under cooked as well as the carrots. We love Cracker Barrel and their food, but this time it was lacking.

Our server only checked on us one time and my husband and I Both sat with empty drinks or over half our meal. I got this really good looking French toast bake. Unfortunately, it was dry and a bit hard. I typically don’t get coffee when I got to eat, but at least the coffee was hot! I know that it was shortly after the restaurant opened, about 8 o’clock in the morning, but the thing at the register was pretty busy playing her game on her phone, As we walked up to the register. So busy with her game that as we were paying, she had to touch her screen a few times to make sure that she didn’t lose her lives in her game.

Ordered a Christmas family meal (prime rib) with curb-side pic up and only had to wait a few minutes. Went home and cooked the entire meal which was very delicious. The provided heating instructions were easy to follow and was helpful too. I highly recommend Cracker Barrel for their fast service and especially for the great food.

6/4/25 Update: Tried the Campfire Beef. Very good! This is the 2nd time we have had the onion petals. Still a little salty, but good. Oil tasted fresh.
6/19/24 Update: Wednesday Special was not hot enough when brought to the table. Disappointing.
5/29/24 Update: Had a coupon for free Barrel Bites on the bottom of a Cracker Barrel receipt to use by May 31st, dining in only. The manager had to override. Too salty! And this is the 2nd time I had them.
Ordered the steak & battered shrimp combo. Steak was excellent (cooked medium), but the shrimp was too salty! Would prefer grilled shrimp instead.
Used my pegs for an entry, but only took off $20.00. The app clearly stated eligible with peg points. The manager had to make the additional adjustment. The manager did mention that the steak cut was a new addition.
I used my Bonus cards from purchasing online gift cards for Mother’s Day.
Used the app to order online, pay with a gift card, then pickup in store. Downside: Only 1 gift card is allowed on the app.

The ambience and food at this location were fine and on par with other Cracker Barrel restaurants I’ve visited. Unfortunately, the customer service fell short during this visit. Our waitress seemed disengaged or overwhelmed, possibly due to being understaffed, but she rarely checked on our table. When we asked for drink refills, they either didn’t arrive or were ignored altogether. Aside from the service issues, the overall experience was acceptable.

The 1st Tuesday of each month former employees at Carlisle Barracks meet for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel in Carlisle, PA. On Tuesday, 3 February 2026 four of us met to hash out old times, catch up on new happenings within our families, etc. We usually stay from 9:30 to noon. Our waitress was wonderful; our orders were taken in a timely manner, she got our orders right and delivered to the correct person, she allowed us to stay seated for a while but still checked on us to see if we still needed anything more, all the time smiling. The food tasted great and was hot.

Disgusting. Two stars is extremely generous. I asked for no bacon and no cheese on my side salad. The bacon and cheese had just been scraped off of a salad made days before. I didn’t ask for a salad with pork scraped off of it. I clearly asked for a salad with no pork in it. Bits of the lettuce were not only brown, they were black. The tomatoes were unedible because they had been frozen and thawed out. So they tasted like cold garbage. We didn’t receive any biscuits the entire time because they ran out. The fried okra was just okay, but probably needed a dipping sauce. It came up back on me again and again, where I kept belching it up and tasting it, after I left.
My boyfriend’s meatloaf was burnt black on the outside on one part. He said it was missing ketchup, so he eventually got. The broccoli wasn’t strained, so everything, meatloaf and mashed potatoes, were sitting in a wet broccoli puddle of water. The broccoli was undercooked under salted and under buttered. There was more broccoli than mashed potatoes on the plate.
My pecan pie was a single layer of pecans, and then just a weird warm goo for the rest of the pie which was disappointing.
I asked my boyfriend:.Can we never come back here again?
Because this was just a throw away, a bit of empathy for him to come here. He agreed:.Yes, we don’t ever have to come back.
Also, there was a axe above my head on the wall above my chair. While it was strapped in, I deeply resented having some kind of potential harm strapped above my head. I couldn’t relax to eat this horrible meal.
