This Cracker Barrel is one of the best ones I have been to. We went on a Sunday evening. Biscuits were melt in your mouth fresh, portions were huge, prices were reasonable, and service was great. Not many people eating there to our surprise. We will be back!

Friendly Staff throughout establishment.
Had Grandma’s Sampler Breakfast. Nice variety of food and plenty filling. RJ was server, He is an excellent waiter. Hostess was helpful and also friendly. Service and meal were as timely as you could desire. Wasn’t in any hurry and enjoyed leisurely breakfast. If you were in a hurry they certainly would be able to accommodate that as well.

I typically go to the Altoona location. This was my first experience at the State College location. It was very busy with a 30 minute wait for a table, despite there being empty tables in the dining room. It was very noisy, due to how busy they were. The food was okay although my steak fries were over cooked and a bit crispy. The prices were reasonable. Our waitress was not very attentive and I had to flag her down several times for refills on our drinks or for to-go boxes. I don’t know if there are other days/times that this location would be less busy. Possibly then, the service would be better. For me, I think I’ll go to the Altoona location in the future. There’s never a wait there and the service is much better.

We stopped for lunch after a doc appointment. We are from out of town so wanted something close to our exit. After being seated, we waited for about 10 minutes before the waitress even acknowledged us.They weren’t that busy. Finally waitress came and since we had already waited for so long, we went ahead and ordered along with our drink request which was coffee. Then we watched 2 or 3 tables, same waitress, get their drinks, then their food. Almost half hour went by,still no coffee. We got up mentioned this to the hostess, she ask us if we wanted to talk to the manager.Needing to get back on the road, we just left.Had to stop at a fast food drive thru. Think the waitresses name was Rachel.

There were three of us, and we were seated when we went to the check-in counter. Waitress/server was there within 3 minutes taking drink orders. Our food was delicious. The three of us had poached eggs, scrambled eggs, eggs over easy, French toast, strawberry pancakes, bacon, sausage, coffee, juice, hot chocolate. Everything was done to perfection. No mistakes, quick service, food served within five minutes. Prices were reasonable. Place and table were clean. Utensils were clean. Everything was in order. It is a good sit down breakfast place, plenty of convenient parking, friendly staff, great service, excellent food. Restaurant is close to 322 & I99 in State College.

I normally look forward to visiting Cracker Barrel when I travel since we don’t have any in NYC, but my recent visit to the State College, PA location was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at this chain.

Our server, Kaylie K., started things off by bringing our sodas without straws and telling us she’d be right back. Fifteen minutes later she returned — still without straws. From there, the meal only went downhill. Several items we ordered were “out,” including bread and Mac and cheese, which meant even more waiting since they had to prepare new batches. I ordered the meatloaf but somehow received fried chicken instead, so I had to wait yet again while part of our table started eating and the rest of us sat there with nothing.

When the meatloaf finally arrived, it was dry, tasted reheated, and was nothing like the quality I’ve had at other Cracker Barrels. While the service had been painfully slow and incomplete the entire time, we were then rushed through the end of the meal. When we were only about 75% finished eating, Kaylie came over asking if we wanted boxes or dessert. We were clearly still eating. After we said we likely wouldn’t be ordering dessert, she immediately brought the check — again, while we were still mid-meal.

So despite waiting endlessly for basic items (we’re still waiting on the cornbread), we were somehow being hurried out the door for an incorrect, poorly prepared, and incomplete meal.

I usually enjoy Cracker Barrel and make it a point to stop when I’m traveling, but the State College, PA location completely changed that experience. Next time I’m in the area, I will absolutely be going somewhere else.

I would give 5 star to their braised beef, and would return for that one. and a 4 star to the southern style honey chicken.
The portions are also very high!

You’ve experienced one Cracker Barrel you know the drill. Michelle was our waitress and she was efficient and pleasant. New menu items are good. Fast service, good food, clean rest rooms. Can’t go wrong when traveling .

I would like more gluten free options. Like hot soup and food in moderate portions rather than huge portions. It also would be great if the menu identified gluten free choices. The scan to see gluten free menu did not work on my phone even though I used CB WiFi and have relatively new phone.
