I’m basing this review solely on today’s service and not on an average day because today’s service seemed off when normally they are great. Soda was flat, and when the cups were empty it took at least twenty minutes for the waitress to refill them, the waitress was polite enough and she had at least five tables going so I don’t completely blame her for the lack of attention, that’s a scheduling issue which isn’t her fault. My husband got the four piece chicken with macaroni and cheese and side of coleslaw, (the macaroni was dry). I got the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. Mine was good. Nothing special but good. Our friend got the maple bacon chicken which I thought tasted awesome, I’ll get that next time. The coleslaw was perfect.
What I like about cracker barrel is they have a gift shop store. I think that’s awesome and a good selling point for the business. You take your bill to the gift shop buy what you want and pay for it all together with your restaurant bill, pretty cool. Prices for food at the restaurant is fairly reasonable, not at all expensive. Plenty of parking spaces, no tripping hazards, bathroom was clean, staff was more or less professional, but they were clearly having an off day there, but nothing is always perfect. I’ll still be back.

This brand seems to always get a bad rap when I chat to American people, I really do not understand why?
We went for lunch after travelling to Maine mall from North Conway. We had to wait for 15 mins before we were called and shown to our table, but that was not really a problem for us. (They did seem to be a bit under staffed)
Our server was absolutely lovely, she took our drinks order then gave us time to look at the menu. The drinks came out quickly and were refreshed when needed. I ordered the sampler which gave me a few options to try. The food came out (after a short wait) and was piping hot and really tasty.
We could not eat all the food so a couple of boxes were brought out and also our drinks were refreshed to take away. The server was fantastic and I cannot praise her enough.
Cracker barrel is a quaint, old fashioned American diner, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

This was my first Cracker Barrel experience. I didn’t even know how the whole paying at the counter thing worked. But the staff was helpful and gave good suggestions on food items we would like. The fried chicken was juicy and crispy. Loved it. All the sides were great. Biscuits are my fav, and can’t go wrong with butter. Our experience was good overall. It’s not anything fancy and definitely tastes like it came right off a truck. Nothing homemade or anything. But sometimes that’s what you need.

The food took a long time to come out. 2 of us ordered the exact same meal, fried chicken tenders, fried and Mac& cheese, 1 person ordered the rib eye, well done. When the food came out, 1 of the chicken tender meals was right, the other had chicken pieces, not tenders and the steak was undercooked. The chicken tenders were over cooked and hard to chew. The steak meal was sent back and took so long for it to come out again we asked for it to go, because everybody else was done with their meals. Our bill was comped, but we all left hungry! I would never go back to this CB.

I love this restaurant and since I can’t find it everywhere, whenever I can, I want to stop. The food is excellent, the prices are good compared to other categories of equal quality, only that in this one in Portland, we found a receptionist and one at the service of a unique rudeness, the waitress had a grit as if she were annoyed to work, not friendly at all, not a smile. Luckily, the girl who showed us to the table was kind and smiling.

Interesting concept: you go in thru a “country store” which is tourist trappy style gift shop. In this modern world of short staffness there seems to be always a wait, so you end up perusing the gift shop. Genius really. Or maybe it’s not that new and I don’t get out much, which is true but I did just get out of prison. Anyway the wait wasn’t long and the food came quickly. I’ll update later.

Love Cracker Barrel, the store was clean and well maintained. The food was hot with large portions and great service. The parking lot is large enough for any size rig or RV. The lots were clean, well maintained, well lit and fairly level. I had 3 bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming, 2 bars of store wifi and 5 OTA television channels. As always, I left my area cleaner than when I arrived and made an in store purchase to thank Cracker Barrel for allowing me to overnight.

The food good. The wait staff was another matter. We had a waiter and he wasn’t pleasant at all. Almost like we were a burden to him. He only came by once to see how every was. He seemed very short with us. If he was having a bad day or night for that matter he shouldn’t take it to work with him. And the hostess was less than be desired. It was just a unpleasant dinner there. I’m sorry to say but we won’t be back to this one restaurant in Portland. Love the store part if it and the historical things that they have in the restaurant.

In May of 2022, I brought and treated myself and my wife for dinner at the Cracker Barrel, specifically the branch located in South Portland, Maine.
The staff at Cracker Barrel warmly welcomed us in upon our entry, and our server, Terry H. treated us with great kindness and did a great job on taking our orders and explaining the menu options.
Both my wife and I highly enjoyed our meals, which included a steak based entree for my wife and maple bacon chicken meal for myself. We found our meal to be well cooked, perfectly seasoned and definitely delicious!!!
When visiting Portland Maine, my wife and I definitely recommend that you visit and dine at the Cracker Barrel restaurant!!!

We dined in and take out for Thanksgiving and the day before. My gf enjoyed shopping for Christmas decorations. Staff was very friendly. Our thanksgiving day order was very tasty, our favorite was the deep fried turkey and the pecan pie. I was grateful they were open traveling in the area and staying at a hotel that was best thing to home cooked dinner!
