Crabby Rick’s sits on Route 35 in a section of Lavallette known as Normandy Beach. Amidst an endless lineup of summer bungalows and seaside mansions, this crab shack is a “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it” type of place. A handful of well-shaded picnic tables flank the outside of the building, while a mix of Bob Marley favorites play in the background, their melodies dancing through the salty ocean air and setting the perfect mood. In fact, the whole vibe at Crabby Rick’s feels like you are hanging out at a friend’s beach house who happens to be cooking up some delicious seafood. Free parking, BYOB, seat yourself. Stopped at Crabby Rick’s for a quick bite. Everything was delicious! They went above and beyond even through to the kids meals. Homemade French fries were a hit with them, the hotdog was great quality and so was the burger. Kids loved it. We got the blackened fish salad and my goodness amazing! Delicious all around. Also got to try the red snapper sandwich and it was definitely 10/10. Really sweet staff, will definitely be back.

The place isn’t very comfortable since you will be sitting in outdoor benches, I ordered fish tacos, but apparently nobody taught them that they need to heat the tortillas before. So they gave for 20$ cold tacos, the flavor was ok, but with 2 small shrimps per taco and plenty salad, they should be called salad tacos with shrimp instead. the staff are very young and disorganized, so the service is poor. I would not recommend this place besides for a takeaway snacks.

I had the fish & chips. My girlfriend had the lobster tacos.The food was pretty good They actually had malt vinegar for the fish & chips at the table which is was great. Most places do not & look at you weird if you request it.

All you can expect from a shack. Popcorn shrimp was good, fish tacos fresh and tasty and lobster roll and Mac and cheese were not my favorites but still enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and super fast.

I was there on a Monday evening after a day at Island Beach State Park. The shack was kind of deserted except for a single client sitting at the counter. I picked the place over others based on Yelp reviews so i was worried that the reviews were misleading. No crowd no need to wait for a table! Ordering was easy, the food came within 15 minutes and was delicious, the lemonade could be refilled at will at the counter. I couldn’t be happier! I couldn’t ask for more after a long day hanging out at the beach and clamming bay side.

Holy disappointment! $70 to feed 3 people id expect really good food… the burgers were tiny and the fries were WAY over seasoned and cold. The chicken was super dry and tough and also had a weird oldish essence to it- Signature sauce made it bearable. When I walked up I had zero clue where to order because there are no menus posted anywhere. Workers were friendly but by no means went above and beyond to earn the tip I left for them considering the only thing they did was take the order at the counter and bring out our food. Its a shame because this place used to be pretty decent when we would come out here every year, but the quality has tanked and the prices have skyrocketed!

I was pretty disappointed because I come here every summer during my trips here, there was a big re-design and probably new management. The burger I got was good, a little small for the pricing, fries were good maybe almost over seasoned, the chicken strips were pink probably not raw but the chewing resembles biting into a new flip-flop. Everything felt kind of cheap in the atmosphere.

Shrimp tacos were really good and came with a lot of food. Clam strips also good, but small. However, the prices are a bit steep and the kitchen is super disorganized. Everything came out at wildly different times and some stuff didn’t come out at all. Although they were gracious when it came to refunding us for what never came and fixing a mistake ringing the order up.

The service was nice and fast, the atmosphere was good, but the food was terrible. Blackened fish sandwich was unimaginable salty, 100 times more salty than regular human tolerance and all three of us agreed. Spicy crab soup was also very salty, with a heavy dill flavor, which makes it taste very weird. Fish tacos was mediocre, not flavorful enough. Crab balls was pretty good, but doesn’t make up for all the other bad food 🙁
