The Crab Shack was such a cool place to eat- like a festive shack- right on the Gandy and so close to the water.
As soon as we walked in we got nothing but smiles and welcoming greetings from everyone.
The food was wonderful- we had appetizers, salad- very average salad- but the Seafood Combo and the Seafood Pasta was so good! The fried Shrimp platter was also good and got lots of it!
We left a dollar on the wall and had a great time hearing stories from Renee- she was great!
We will be back!

We enjoyed ourselves here very much. The food was good but a little pricey. The fried scallops were cooked perfectly. We were allowed to try the Gator bites. Thank you so much!!! The sauce you use for them we used on everything!!! The Gator was ok, but nothing special, just chewy white meat. The Calamari, fried fish and oysters and shrimp and coleslaw were all good. They just season the batter, especially on the Calamari with too much salt for our taste. But still good.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, so I was excited to bring my own child recently. I wouldn’t have minded spending $50 on the kids’ shrimp pasta and the famous 2 crab cake meal if the food had lived up to what I remember, but unfortunately the crab cakes just weren’t good. It makes me genuinely sad because it feels like the place has shifted toward more of a tourist‑trap vibe. The servers were great and the place literally lives up to its name- it’s still a shack. I’m really sorry to say it, but there are other seafood spots in the area that are same price but better food and nicer atmosphere.

We went here last night to celebrate our anniversary, and the experience was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with huge smiles by every single employee we encountered, it immediately made us feel welcome.
Our server was incredibly sweet, attentive, and professional, and the food was absolutely delicious. Renee, wonderful restaurant manager, even stopped by our table to chat with us and surprised us with a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch.
I’m originally from Sicily, and finding truly great seafood has been very hard for me, this place exceeded my expectations. It’s truly a hidden gem, completely worth it, and it will definitely be our go-to spot moving forward. Highly recommend!

Fried shrimp, fish & clam strips were good but not the very best, and being less than fully hot took everything, especially the fries, down a notch. Good service. Good coleslaw. Very old building has its own charm.

My fish was burnt to a crisp. Literally black!! The manager agreed it was way over cooked as she picked through my left over plate. But yet not even an offer to replace it or a discount. I paid full price but at the end of the day the owner paid the price. I was a loyal customer for the last 7 years until today. This is the last time they will get my business. What a shame that this place has went to the dump. The server was great but the management absolutely sucks! Due to a cheap owner. They limit their salads to 4 croutons and the servers get in trouble if they give you more. How pathetic is he!!???

My mom and I found this place accidentally and I’m glad we did. The fried Shrimp for lunch was amazing and plentiful. Their prices are very reasonable as well. This is definitely a restaurant you won’t regret stopping in.

We had a delicious meal! The waitress had a great personality and we had lots of laughs. Place is plastered with one dollar bills with notes on them from people who have eaten there! They call it their retirement account! Lol
