Drove down here from the Calgary, AB area specifically for a Coors Banquet & a damn good burger. Safe to say we were not disappointed & didn’t leave hungry. The service from Adam was exceptional, full of great conversations & laughs. He was also so very polite!
We both had the Western Signature Burger with the Beer Battered fries with a side of gravy & burger sauce. The burgers were massive, fresh made, & exactly what we were in search of. The fries are what dreams are made of, don’t forget to try the burger sauce. I couldn’t decide what was better, the burger sauce or the gravy.
The beers were cold, the atmosphere was lovely, we can’t wait to make another trip down here & already planning it (We’ve been gone for 10 mins )
The bathrooms & overall restaurant area are kept neat, tidy, and clean. You can tell they care about this place & take care of it.
Whether you’re a local, driving through, or just hungry & wanting to try something delicious… I highly recommend stopping in. This place is hands down the best burger & service we have had in ages.
100/100 must try!

I’ve lived all over this country, north, south, east, and west, and I can honestly say I’ve never come across a better restaurant than Coyote Lanes and Road Runner Café in Shelby, Montana. In a small town like Shelby, where you often run into places with copycat menus and rushed, impersonal service and “anything else” 10x before you can even finish your sentence.. this place is an absolute gem. While other spots seem to follow the same tired script, this place stands on its own, completely original, authentic, and unlike anything else around here.
The food? Unbelievable. Every single dish is made fresh with real ingredients and true attention to detail. You can taste the difference from the first bite. It’s the kind of flavor that hits you hard in the best way. Every meal is mouthwatering, packed with flavor, and always leaves us with leftovers because the portions are generous and satisfying without ever sacrificing quality.
We’ve tried multiple dishes, everything from their daily specials to the comfort food classics, and each one somehow manages to outdo the last. And speaking of specials, they have something new every single day. It’s always exciting to walk in and see what creative, delicious meal Robyn has come up with. The variety is unreal and the consistency is even better. This is the kind of food you usually only find in the deep South, soulful, homemade, and cooked with care. But it’s right here in Montana, and honestly, it’s unmatched. You just don’t find food like this anywhere else.
And the service? Truly next level. These are the kind of people who take care of their community. They literally fed us through postpartum with a newborn baby when we barely had the energy to cook for ourselves. They’ve stayed open late for us without hesitation, just to make sure we got a hot, delicious meal after a long day. It’s not just us either, they take care of everyone who walks through their doors with the same kindness, warmth, and genuine care. Their service is absolutely unmatched.
What truly sets this place apart, though, is the people. The owners and staff are some of the kindest, most down to earth folks we’ve ever met. In a town like this.. the team at Coyote Lanes and Road Runner Café is a breath of fresh air. They make you feel like family the moment you walk in, genuinely warm, friendly, and always ready to chat or offer a recommendation.
We’re moving soon, and without a doubt, one of the hardest things to leave behind will be this place and the wonderful people who run it. This isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a rare find, a place that feeds your stomach and your soul. If you haven’t been, you’re missing out on one of the best food experiences you’ll ever have. The photos speak for themselves.
Thank you Robyn, Adam, and Ryan from the bottoms of our hearts!

Only place that was open on a Sunday that served dinner, That was not a fast food chain. A friendly and low key environment. The blue cheese and steak salad was delicious and they where very generous on the blue cheese. Perfect meal after a long hunting day.

We were stopping through town and saw their good reviews. I called for carry out. We had a steak dinner, chicken salad, chimichanga, max and cheese bites, and a western burger with side salad and ranch. Spent $100. Food was ready in about half an hour. Everything was excellent. It was a bit spicier than we were used to but not in a bad way. Salad was fresh and the cuts of meat were good quality. Staff even checked to see if we needed silverware and utensils since we were from our of town. Highly recommend!

We came across this place after reading some reviews (not so good) about other restaurants in the area so naturally we were hesitant.
However, the restaurant was a great choice. The owners were amazingly friendly and personable. We joked and talked about our life experiences and one owner even made an eating bet with our son:)
All of us loved our meal and the company. We also enjoyed the other customers in the restaurant. I completely agree with Liz’s review, if you’re in the neighborhood you really need to go check them out. Customer service is stellar and way too much food. But great atmosphere and conversation was had by everyone there. Next trip through, we will be stopping by. Thank you again!!
Until next time,
The Johnson Family

If you happen to be passing through Shelby, Montana, Coyote Lanes is a must-visit. It’s more than just a bowling alley; it’s a true hidden gem with a wonderful atmosphere. We were welcomed with open arms the service here is top-notch, and you can really feel the genuine small-town hospitality. The Roadrunner Cafe serves up fantastic comfort food; their burgers are absolutely delicious! The facility is spotless, cozy, and has a lovely nostalgic vibe. It’s the perfect spot to take a break from the road, enjoy a few frames of bowling, and grab a great meal. The location on Oilfield Ave is very convenient and easy to find. This place is a real treat for travelers!

Our drive to Shelby brought us to a recommended restaurant from our hotel. We can’t say enough about the food that Robyn prepares and service that Adam gives. We went on 2 occasions this weekend. We loved the atmosphere of Coyote Lanes and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the steak sandwich, the Philly cheesesteak poboy and on both visits had order blackened catfish which is incredible! Another must have is the beer battered fries! Huckleberry beer and ice cream was a great choice as well!!We will definitely be back!

We were late getting into Shelby so there were only a few places open. We found this place through Google Maps and thought we give it a try as the menu looked intriguing. This place is expanding with new additions coming soon. We didn’t realize was a bowling alley and more there for the food. Very welcoming place and friendly. Lots of food made from scratch and not your every day usual. We had the chicken strips as well as Elk burger. They suggested adding on the pepper bacon. All I can say is Oh My God! I was not expecting so much flavor. The burger was huge! The flavor was bursting out! It blew me away. They recommend the homemade BBQ sauce they make for dipping the chicken. Again, OMG! It was nothing like you find elsewhere and just a nice little kick to it. This place is hidden across a bridge on the other part of town you would easily miss. You won’t be disappointed in the food and highly suggest you make the trek here.
