Cox Cafe harkens back to an era before there were chain restaurants littering the landscape. Walking in, you feel like you have been transported back in time to a place where everyone knew each other, and you knew that you were going to be welcomed. Friendly service, warm smiles, and hot food since 1996.

This is not a place that you are going to happen by while driving around. Cox Cafe is located deep in the industrial part of Macon. This is where the hard-working folks come to eat a hearty meal before heading back to work.

We came today based on a recommendation from a friend. We are glad we did. The food was good, and the servings were plentiful. You won’t leave here hungry.

What a wonderful experience!

The best place to eat some real home cooked southern food! This place reminds me of my mother’s cooking growing up. If you’ve never tried it, you’re missing out!!

Cox Cafe is a hidden gem in Macon. The food is always fresh, the prices are extremely reasonable, and you can not beat the staff for amazing friendliness & customer service!

The staff is always friendly here. Their fried chicken, so good. And they are the only place in Macon that has fried corn bread. Not a hoe cake, fried corn bread. The cabbage could have used a bit more flavor. It could seem a bit sketchy at first but the food is worth it.

This is one of those “off the beaten path” kind of places that you usually only know about because someone else took you there or told you about it or you just happen to stumble upon it & when you go there, you are soooooo glad you did because you do not find places that cook home cooked meals like this hardly anywhere. VERY GOOD FOOD!!

Great food! Southern dishes! Mostly locals. You have to be looking for it to find it. No frills just good food. Closes at 2 so you need to plan on breakfast or lunch. I had the fried pork chops w/mashed potatoes and gravy and cream corn. Wife had cube steak in gravy w/mashed potatoes and cream corn. Delicious! Good size servings at a good price. We’ll be back the next time we’re in Macon.

The food was remarkably affordable and tasted quite good, although a bit more salt on the eggs and grits would have been preferable, but this was a minor issue. The owner was extremely personable and appeared genuinely kind, and I appreciated the fact that everyone seemed happy to be there.

If you want some grandma’s cooking you have got to go to this place. It is the most amazing place to get old cooking. They have these critters that are just awesome. It’s fried cornbread and they look like pancakes.

In an industrial area, so it was a bit unexpected. Eggs were cooked to order, and everything else was prepared so it was really fast. Sausages were delicious, and I believe homemade, I had the spicy and smoked.
