I wanted to do something special for my wife for our anniversary! I made reservations weeks in advance but unknowing to me on the date that I chose to go Texas would experience a severe snow/ice event. I already had a babysitter and the day off. To my surprise, I called the restaurant and they said they had no intentions of closing for the weather unless the power went off. We made the one hour trip in the snow and ice for a rememberable dinner. The prices seem to be slightly elevated, but I do not mind paying extra for good service & Good food. The facility in my opinion was very clean and professional. The weight staff was very serious concerned about my wife and her food, allergies. They went above and beyond to ensure that there was no cross contamination or ingredients that was included in her allergies. The only small complaint that I had was the staff placed our eating utensils directly onto the table. I’m sure the table was clean, but that’s just one of my pet peeves. Always place the silverware on a plate or napkin never place it directly onto the table itself for sanitary reasons. Not a dealbreaker, but something that should be addressed.

I was concerned after reading some negative reviews that maybe this restaurant was overhyped however I really wanted to try after reading Graham Elliot had helped design the menu. I really loved the decor and ambience. The staff was courteous and accommodating when I called and asked if we could move our reservation an hour later. Our waiter Quest was great . He was really friendly and helpful when I could not decide what to order. The octopus was delicious and the texture was cooked to perfection. The only thing that wasn’t my favorite was the shrimp cocktail. I think it’s a good spot and would definitely recommend.

I have been wanting to give Cowboy Prime a try for months! With my husband’s late hours and busy schedules it just hadn’t happened until this past weekend.

My husband took a rare weekend off just to celebrate my birthday and made reservations on Friday night. Our reservations were for 9:15pm but we decided to go a few minutes early on the off chance we could get seated a little earlier and we figured we’d have drink at the bar if not. We checked in and headed for the bar which was very full but our wait was not too long. I immediately noticed a child at the bar playing with slime with a group of adults which I thought was unusual and probably ill advised but not my business and the bar staff didn’t seem to have an issue with it. After receiving our drinks we went back toward the waiting area and ran into another couple we know who where also there for date night. They did not have reservations and didn’t mind waiting. Our reservation time came and went. Our friends who came in with no reservations were seated well before we were.

Finally an hour after our reservation time we were seated at the corner table closest to the bar. It was a little loud but not a big deal. The waiter came over and took our drink order. After waiting for about 20 minutes my husband finally went to the bar himself to get us some drinks. Of course, that’s when our drinks finally came to the table. As we were looking over the menus, a man headed back to the bar obviously tipsy, knocked right into me where I was seated, without so much as an apology.

The food was ok. It was not the best I had ever had. Honestly for the prices I expected much better. We had been to their sister restaurant Felipe’s (formerly F1) and had the best service and delicious meals, so we had high hopes. Reading the reviews I don’t understand how there is such a disparity between our experience and those who rave about it. I guess it’s the luck of the draw and taste preferences? Anyway, our experience was such a disappointment, we definitely will not be back.

I wanted to like it, I gave it a second chance, but I was once again disappointed

I had a reservation for 6, but we weren’t seated until 6:40. After that it was just continuous waiting. Each time the waiter checked in on us must have been 15 to 30 minutes between each instance. It took a frustrating amount of time for the waiter to come around to take our order. All the wait staff appeared as if they were deliberately ignoring our and other tables. The food took exceptionally long to come out, which was frustrating because I had skipped lunch in anticipation of what should have been a marvelous dinner.

In between asking for the dessert menu, they picked up the plates from the other members of our party, and they weren’t even finished with their food, and they remarked as much, much to the disinterest of the wait staff.

All this could have been ignored if the dessert came out well. I love creme brulees, a lot. I was hesitant to ask for a creme brulee here as the last time I had one at this restaurant, I had asked for one without toppings (implying no fruits or extra things other than the custard and the caramelized sugar) and they only brought the custard without the burnt sugar on top.
This time I was more specific, I asked for one without fruit (which some of which I was allergic to)

…it came with fruit.

Only saving grace was that the manager came out with a creme brulee relatively quickly (implying i didn’t have to wait another 15-20 minutes)

At that point I just wanted to pay the bill and leave as I had checked out

Needless to say, for the price not only do i demand excellence, but I expect it. I go to “fancy” restaurants maybe 3 times a year, so to have one of these dinners be of such low quality, its disappointing.

I was a bit hesitant to give Cowboy Prime a try after reading some reviews, but I’m glad I did.
You step into a warm and elegant ambiance. The attentive staff provided great recommendations.
I enjoyed the spice dusted ribeye which was flavorful. The wine list pairs nicely with the menu.
The butter graham cracker dessert was out of this world and a delightful finish to a delicious meal.
Cowboy Prime exceeded expectations with excellent food and service. A must-visit!

Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food. The highly recommended dish lacked flavor and tasted like it may have come from frozen ingredients. The beet salad was the highlight of the meal and the only dish I truly enjoyed. On a positive note, the service was excellent—our server was attentive, professional, and courteous.

10 of out 10, would recommend. The first thing we noted was every staff member we walked by greeted us. This plus the really nice atmosphere and decor were a great way to start the experience. We were celebrating our anniversary and they even left a nice note on our table (picture). They also accommodated our stroller for our baby. I don’t remember our server’s name, but she was super pleasant and checked on us multiple times. The cool thing about this restaurant is the menu offers super fancy (expensive) items, but also has regular (affordable) items as well. I forgot to take a picture before we ate, but my wife had the Steak Frites and I had the Dry-Aged Prime Burger. Both were extremely good and very filling as you can see from the plates. The fries are good too, but a little heavy on the Parmesan. Funny sidenote, I know I’m not a fancy guy at all, but in the bathroom, they didn’t have paper towels, but they had actual cloth towels. Multiple on a nice tray. I’ve never seen that before. Long story short, I air dried my hands. Using a towel in a public bathroom just seemed odd to me, but my wife said that’s what fancy restaurants do. Anyway, we plan to be back!

We come here often and today was just as great as ever. The food was terrific. I had the salmon and my husband had the peppercorn crusted filet. We also had the crime brûlée and chocolate molten lava cake. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of our meal or would have posted them. Quest was our server and he was very attentive and made the experience even better despite having only been here a week. I did not get the managers name but she was also great. We saw her bus tables, put out tablecloths, deliver food all the while also checking in on her diners. We will definitely be returning!
