It was so good and I approved this handcrafted Japanese Curry ( I am from Japan )
I added chicken Katsu & Menchi Katsu as toppings, but the beef curry itself was just so good. If the egg potato salad was more japanese style, I would be even happier.
Their curry sauce uses only fruits and veggies for flavor and texture, making it 100% gluten free and dairy free.
The beef was slow cooked to perfection!

This was my first time trying Japanese curry, and Cowboy Curry did not disappoint. I’ve had all kinds of curry before, but this style was completely new to me — the sauce is rich, umami-packed, and naturally sweetened with fruits and vegetables instead of sugar. Such a cool experience.
I ordered the chicken katsu curry, and it was flavorful, comforting, and so satisfying. The pickled cucumbers on the side were zesty and perfectly tangy, and the hojicha tea was refreshing and paired really well with the meal.
Overall, Cowboy Curry is a great spot if you love curry or if you want to try something different. I definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in Mills Market!

This place is located inside Mills Market, so there are plenty of other stalls in this market if you’re in a group and everyone wants something different. Cowboy curry was delicious, it is a little pricy but honestly it was a huge portion with a deep bowl, we actually split it between 2 adults. We got the curry (the base curry only comes one way which is beef), with the chicken katsu and cheese added on. They have lots of options for other meats and toppings to add on. The guy that made ours took such care of making it perfect and you can tell (not sure his name but young guy with a cowboy hat, see him there often). Anyways if you want a comforting bowl of Japanese style curry and are in the neighborhood definitely recommend.

I was really impressed, this is good quality beef curry, you can tell they’re using very beefy cuts in the process, tastes like chuck. It has a nice smooth richness, like you took your time and made it at home. they’re careful about the chunks that make it into the curry too, none of them were tough or had too much fat.
The Menchi-katsu was nice and juicy, i don’t think you can morally skip the karaage at that price either. the matcha fruit drink had a lovely matcha infusion in the cream. These guys pay attention and balance their flavors well.

Love that cowboy curry is finally open on a more regular basis! Their curry is very flavorful, but I just wish they had tonkatsu as an option to add on the curry. Eggs would also be a welcome addition, a long with chicken curry. Service was friendly and prices were reasonable. I’m sure I’ll be back.

The portion of beef compared to the cost of the bowl should be a crime lol. When I first tried cowboy curry months ago, the portion was great and the beef was more like ropa vieja shredded beef. It was amazing. I’ve been back numerous times but the portions continue to shrink. A couple of days I ordered a bowl and I counted four cubes of beef, like not even an inch around. Unfortunately I will not be supporting this business anymore unless they change that.

I’m glad the finally have a regular location, because there was never much notice on their Instagram posts. I enjoyed the curry, it was flavorful and the beef was tender. I did find it odd there were no potatoes, only carrots. Would be nice if they offered katsu and the topping options were reasonably priced, I feel they’re too expensive. But overall I enjoyed it and would go back.

I can during the soft opening and the first customers in line got a free dessert so that is cool but got the curry with cheese, chicken and meatball. I enjoyed everything but come out early it gets busy and can be a long line to get food and it’s hard to find parking too.

Definitely the best Japanese curry that you’re going to find in the area! My curry had a fair portion of tender beef chunks, potatoes, and carrots in it, and I paid for the extras on top (chicken karaage, menchi-katsu, and potato/cheese croquette), which were all delicious! -1 star for the price, because $31 is more than I would have liked to have paid for this, but I guess it’s ok as an occasional treat.
