We just happened to stop in and so happy we did. We’ve been back three times in the month. The food is delicious. Never disappointed. Must try the Texas Twinkies and Cowboy Queso. The wait staff are lovely and you can tell they love being here. Can’t wait til they had live music and line dancing nights! Hint hint!

Amazing food!!! Everything is perfect everytime we come. Great brisket and burgers. Place is very cozy and not too loud so you can easily talk. Comfy booths and a very nice bar with a huge selection. Luke is a great server very friendly and attentive the restaurant is lucky to have him. Queso burger, thanksgiving gobbler sandwich, scallops were all FANTASTIC.

I had a fantastic time at Cowboy Butter BBQ! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and my bartender Ashley was absolutely on point, attentive, personable, and really made the experience special. The food was excellent too, flavorful, well-prepared, and satisfying. Looking forward to coming back and will definitely recommend this place to friends.

Super delicious BBQ brought to you by the masterminds of Hindsight BBQ!!! This place rocks and the whole experience is great. The star of course is the food, which is dynamite. Definitely recommend the BBQ Brisket plate, which melts in your mouth. The potato salad side was tasty, and the cornbread was out of this world (smothered in maple butter). Server was super nice too. Highly recommend!

Cowboy Butter is the kind of hidden gem you don’t stumble across often in Connecticut. From the moment we walked in, it felt like a true family-owned spot — warm, welcoming, and even the owner made sure to stop by our table to check in. That personal touch set the tone for the whole night.

We started with the pumpkin pork burnt ends appetizer, which was outstanding. The pumpkin spice brought just the right balance of sweetness and tartness over the rich pork — easily one of the most unique and well-balanced starters I’ve had in a while.

For entrées, she had the boneless braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables, and a herbed mushroom demi-glace topped with crispy onion straws. I went with the beef ribs and vegetables. Both dishes were cooked perfectly, generous in portion, and bursting with flavor. It’s been years since I’ve had beef ribs in Connecticut, and these were worth the wait — fall-off-the-bone tender and full of that hearty, comforting flavor you’d expect from a Nashville joint.

We also tried their house cocktails. They were made well and enjoyable, though I will say the menu leans heavily toward lighter, fruitier drinks that feel geared more toward a feminine palate. I ordered the “Tombstone,” which was essentially a whiskey sour topped with sangria. It was good, but I couldn’t help but think they missed an opportunity — a smoked bourbon cocktail would have truly lived up to the name.

Prices were a little on the higher side, but honestly, between the portion sizes, the quality of the food, and the genuine hospitality, it felt more than justified. The whole experience carried that same energy I’ve felt dining in Nashville — bold flavors, comfort food, and family-run charm — only this time in the heart of small-town Connecticut.

Excited to try this place. Staff was super friendly and professional. Drinks were very slow and on the sweeter side however in the bartender’s defense we were a large party and there was only one bartender for the restaurant. Food was hit with a few misses. Hits: brisket queso, dry rub wings, cowgirl cauliflower, bacon wrapped scallops. Misses: fried chicken, birkin salad

We came here opening weekend on a Sunday for lunch , it’s nice to see that spot occupied for one , and it’s also a bonus to have another food option in town . I had the smoked Brisket burger with hand cut fried cooked in tallow which added a distinct flavor. My wife had the Calamity Jane salad which she really enjoyed. My Brother in law had the brown butter bbq turkey breast with deviled egg potato salad . He remarked that the turkey was delicious as well and the deviled egg potato said it’s something he’s never see before . My SIL had the same salad as my wife but added salmon she said it was fantastic and the salmon was cooked perfectly.
We will be coming back for dinner ! Give this place some time to solidify the staff and catch its rhythm … give this place a try please !

Amazed by Cowboy Butter! Excellent food and excellent service. I’m a somewhat picky local who enjoys down to earth atmospheres with great service and excellent food quality (hopefully but ok with food being just ok if the service is good).

Pleasantly surprised to say the food is GREAT.

Anytime I have eaten here the food and service were awesome. Highly recommend.
