The service was great, thanks to Trish. The food … horrible. The “homemade fries” would have been great had they not been cooked 15 – 20 minutes too long. They were so overcooked that we could not eat them. Same thing with the country fried steak. There was absolutely no seasoning on anything. I ordered a steak that had NO seasonings, not even salt – but it was cooked as requested, rare. The country fried steak was over cooked, like the fries and the homemade fries were inedible because they were so overcooked. I had heard how great this restaurant was, but I am not impressed at all. The only redeeming factor was the service from our server, Trish.

8 of us had dinner this Sat night with a reservation. We were seated right away. We all ate different things from prawns to chicken fried steak and the best prime rib dinner around. Their burgers are awesome and the little waitrss was amazing as always. This has easily become our favorite place to go.!! ❤

The food was very good and the service was excellent. We had a large group so we were told we would be eating in the bar but it is kid friendly. I do not consider a nude picture on the wall kid friendly. It was nice to find a restaurant in the area that served dinner.

It’s a fun place to hangout in the tiny town of fishtail. The food was very good. The waitress was a little confused. She didn’t direct us to the small salad bar that comes with dinner. She also brought out dinners for 2 people who asked for the sandwiches. It was still fun being there and I’d go again.

Had a great lunch here after touring TippetRise today. Staff was friendly and efficient and food was delicious. My wife had a French Dip and fries and I had a Bacon Cheeseburger and Onion Rings. All the food was hot and fresh. The decor was very festive as the Cowboy Bar is prepared for the Fourth of July.

If you are reading this review driving by looking for somewhere to eat, keep driving.

When we walked in around 745 on a Saturday night there were probably 6 other tables on both sides (dining room and bar) we sat down and the server/bartender came over about 5 minutes later. We ordered a pitcher of beer and she brought out plastic cups “because they ran out of glasses”, well did you run out of a dishwasher too? Anyway we ordered food and our table of 5 waited an hour for our food, seeing our server 3 times in that hour and she made no mention of the food or even saying that would take a little bit or anything. After a day of hiking and the hour wait for our food we were so hungry we just ate. The food was ok, the fries were ice cold and clearly cooked over an hour ago, probably when we ordered. So we ate and went to pay our bill. One of the members of our group complained about how long the food took and the response we got back from our server was “I’ll tell the cook”, that wasn’t really what we were looking for until she told us that he was also the owner. When we told her an hour for food is still unacceptable she told us “We had a full dining room and a little grill, if you want food under an hour, there’s a McDonald’s in Columbus”. We should’ve gone there, that probably would have been better service and food.

I don’t know if you will see this or if you even have internet, but maybe consider staffing more, I’m sure one of the other 14 people in your town could learn how to cook a burger or take an order.

What a great place to go after a day at Tippet Rise, or after a day of fishing. We were passing thru and stopped in for dinner. Simple but delicious food done right! The ambiance is old school, and the people are nice, friendly, and welcoming.

Really bad service, bad food, and all around bad experience. It is to bad they don’t take pride in what they do for a business. Hamburger Steak was so hard you could have used it for a frisbee and we asked for med rare. Chicken Fillets turned out to be chicken breast cut in half and had so much grease on it that it was hard to swallow and it wasn’t fried. We originally went for the special they had posted on their website and when we ordered it the waitress said they no longer are doing that anymore but have not updated their website. If you want your customers to keep coming back you should honor your own false advertising on your website or keep it up to date.

To begin with the table we sat at was dirty but they cleaned it kind of as we sat down, so I’ll let it slide. It was decent until we received our food a literal hour and half later with very minimal interaction with our waitress. When we said if our food isn’t here in 10 minutes we’re paying for the drinks and salad she looked at us like we had 2 heads. We got our food and it was good. But we were never asked if we wanted an appetizer or anything knocked off our bill. Overall it was horrible I would suggest no one to eat here.

A friend and I stopped by the Cowboy earlier this week in hopes of grabbing some dinner. We first went to the restaurant side, but only saw one other couple eating and no waitress. After a few minutes with no staff passing by, we walked over to the bar side – no biggie. We weren’t sure if we should seat ourselves, so we patiently waited next to the bar and tried to catch a bartender’s attention. After several minutes of being blatantly ignored by the two women working, we finally gave up and left. There is absolutely no way the bartenders didn’t see or hear us.

Instead of wasting our time and money at this unwelcoming establishment, we drove a few miles down the road and found Wild Flower Kitchen in Absarokee. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly, and the food was amazing! We were more than happy to give them our money and I know where to stop/not to stop next time I’m in the area.
