Holy guacamoly. We ended up having an impromptu Sunday lunch and boy were we blown away. Service is top level, ambience and decor is perfect. But the food, omg! Coconut curry mussels and burger to share and we were blown away. Key lime pie for dessert was thicc and decadent. This is an extremely lucky find in Mission Bay and will be our new happy hour from now on.

We always enjoy coming here to Covewood (and it’s predecessor) – it’s been our go-to spot for special occasions, my real estate business lunches and networking, and for introducing out-of-towners to that wonderful “Hawaiian resort-style” atmosphere the property is known for. The food is consistently very good, which keeps us coming back several times year after year.

Where things can be a bit unpredictable is the level of attentiveness in the service. To be clear, the staff is almost always warm, friendly, and polite — that’s never been the issue. The inconsistency comes in the follow-through: refills and check-ins can be hit or miss. Over the 20 years we’ve been dining here, there have been more than a few times when a simple second glass of wine or cocktail was missed because no one checked back in time. It’s safe to say the hotel has likely lost out on hundreds of dollars in additional beverages from us alone over the years because by the time someone circles back, the meal’s over and we’ve decided to have that after-dinner drink elsewhere.

But, we obviously enjoy it enough to keep coming back and I do highly recommend Covewood as a fun atmosphere and enjoyable dining experience!

I am blown away by this restaurant. As soon as we walked in we were having a positive experience. Our waiter, Mike, was all smiles and gave the best recommendations. The pork chop might’ve been the best I’ve ever had, and I don’t say that lightly. We also loved the BLT salad and were close to licking the plates clean. The clam chowder was also great, as well as the bolognese. We ended the night with the toffee dessert and were once again blown away. Mike and the assisting staff really elevated our meal to a 5 star experience. Our waters were always filled and drinks refilled. The timing the food came out was staggered perfectly as well.

Had an excellent Mother’s Day brunch at Covewood! A beautiful resort restaurant with ocean views, exactly what vacation should feel like. We had the set menu, and ordered the leek & potato soup, fig flatbread, monte cristo, duck breast, peach cobbler, and fudge brownie. Everything tasted amazing. We also had pineapple and grapefruit mimosas and a draft beer. Loved it. We sat on the dog friendly patio. We received friendly and quick service from Jorge M, Juan S, and Salvador. Highly recommend, a great place to celebrate!

Absolute gas. Pork chops were unreal, the lobster mac was elite, and the vibes were perfect. The espresso martinis? Straight rocket fuel. Warm fudge brownie and toffee dessert were unreal too

Cons: Burger was salty and gamey tasting. They add a scam service fee of 6% so watch out for it on the bill. Food does not match the price point.

Pros: Nice location. Good service. They did a great job renovating the hotel from the old Sheraton.

This place was O.K. Food was fine, not special in any way but not bad at all. I would’ve gone 3 stars if not for the bar tender/ barista. Should’ve gotten his name, guy from Boston, he was fantastic!!! He’s what got the 4th star
Also what is the 5% surcharge BS? Why not just raise the prices or something?

Covewood Restaurant, which is located on San Diego Mission Bay Resort’s campus, is a fantastic dining venue at this resort hotel! 🙂 I visited recently a couple of times, as I was staying at SD’s Mission Bay during a conference occurring locally, and each visit was absolutely wonderful! First, the staff are so lovely – I have to give lots of kudos to Omar, Jon, and Juan on their work at Covewood. They go above & beyond to ensure guests are comfortable, and have everything they need during their dining experience! Further, the food here is DELICIOUS. Oh my God, both groups I visited with were blown away by the quality of the food, the presentation of our each of our meals, and the speed at which everything was delivered to our table after ordering.

In terms of their dishes, I highly recommend their Clam Chowder, Pear Salad, Classic Caesar, and their Potato Gnocchi. One of the nights I visited, they also had a special of Fried Calamari running, and that starter was so delicious as well! Everything I tried was fresh, flavorful, and the plates that were meant to be hot came boiling out of the oven. Everything was incredible! In addition, their cocktails are excellent. I highly recommend their False Bay Paloma if you enjoy a tequila-based drink, as it’s refreshing and a beautiful color pink!!

Lastly, the atmosphere of Covewood is darling! It’s so warm + inviting, cozy, and comfortable. My favorite space in the restaurant is the large table they have available inside by their statement fireplace. This space was the perfect venue for our larger group’s final night-in for dinner at the resort while visiting San Diego! Thank you so much for having us, Covewood!!

I loved the coffee. The service was good and the food was okay. Not that crowded on a sunny summer Sunday. Great view of the bay. I would go back for happy hour specials.
