This is one of the main dining halls at WCU, and I have visited a few times, twice for dinner and once for breakfast. My undergraduate institution had Aramark and I’ll admit, I miss it there. The layout of this dining hall was interesting, but there honestly wasn’t a lot of options. My last school had allergy-friendly foods like vegan products, and nutrition information was readily available for any food item with information cards. Plus there were more options for dessert like different types of cookies and cake, whereas this location only has one tray of baked goods out for dessert. The food itself is hit or miss, the quality can be lacking depending on the day. The staff are also hit or miss, but I understand that this is a difficult line of work so I don’t hold it against them. But, it’s an interesting place and be sure to check their menu to see if they have anything you like.

A dining hall of former glories. As a faculty member, I have been eating there occasionally for 10 years. It used to be so good, but each time I go it feels like some one has shaved a bit of here and a bit off there, to the point that the food options are far less, the quality is not attractive anymore, It seems that often no care is put into the cooked dishes (sometimes you get lucky). The desert station is gone, replaced by a salad bar which was needless as they had a perfectly good one that they closed. The healthy eating section once had a great choice of vegan food options now sits unused. The staff seem ok, but this seems to be more of a managerial or governance issue. The free kids dining on a Friday stopped this year, disappointing faculty with young families, and now the place seems half as busy.

The staff is always amazing. My problem is with management and food. The food varies in quality, but usually will also give you food poisoning. the biscuits tast like they are dipped in cooking oil, the pizza is amazing though. There is not enough seating and it does not serve breakfast until 9 on weekends. There is also not enough variety in the meals. And if you plan to eat at any time that a meal is happening be prepared to stand and eat as theu remove seating to build concessions that they dont have enough people to staff.

We come here every summer for a convention. Three food is always got and tasty and they have lots of different options. We are a group of 1,100 and they managed to serve us all 3 meals a day for a week. The staff is friendly and always very helpful.

Poor quality. Found a bug in my food. Not just any bug either, an ear wig. The food is a hit or miss, but mostly always a miss. A majority of the workers are rude and act like they hate their job and life. I really reccomend going to Brown cafe instead of Courtyard Dining Hall. The food at brown is much better and the staff is friendlier!

The food is pretty good for Aramark and there is a huge selection. They have good vegetarian options and if you ask will generally accommodate special requests. The downside is its usually really crowded and loud. They give good discounts for staff on certain days.

The Russian Roulette review is spot on, but I wanted to add to that.

Standard cafeteria food. Soups so salty nearly inedible. Salad bar was good. Pizza was 1/3 cheese, 1/3 pepperoni and 1/3 something different. Always had burgers and fries, had chipotle chicken that was terrific. Most desserts were sugar coated something.
