I was not particularly impressed by Country House Restaurant and I hate giving local places less than 5 stars. Maybe it was just an off day. There seemed to be a lot of regulars which should indicate that it’s good. Maybe it was just an off day for us.
My son and I stopped by on Tuesday morning. The restaurant was pretty crowded for a Tuesday morning. We were asked to seat ourselves. No problem at all. However, with a few waitresses working it seemed difficult for them to tell which guests were just sitting down vs those who have been greeted.
I ordered a bacon omelette and my son ordered a cheeseburger.
The bacon tasted like the grill hasn’t been cleaned. So it tasted bad. The eggs and cheese for the omelette had no taste. I had to add lots of salt and pepper for any taste. The hash browns were crispy but also had a funky taste. The biscuit felt dense. I didn’t finish my meal.
My son said his cheeseburger had no taste, to the point he was dipping it into honey mustard dressing.
The service was okay. Nothing spectacular and nothing horrible.
The atmosphere feels like you’re walking into your friend’s kitchen in the late 90s. Personally I loved it. The cleanliness wasn’t that great. The table we picked needed to be cleaned off, there was napkins and food on the floor at other empty tables, handprints all over the window. But it did seem busy so that is not going to be a priority.

Unfortunately I don’t think we will be back anytime soon.

****please note that they DO NOT take American Express***

I am not sure how to respond to the owner directly but no I didn’t due to the lack of attentiveness and I think that’s due to how busy it seemed and not a lot of employees. It looked like 3 FOH employees for a restaurant with maybe 5 open tables.
I had to ask for a refill on my drink, I had to ask to order. I personally didn’t feel like waiting for a remake of our order. When we walked outside my son (14) said that he was “so ready to be out of there” and “glad thats over.”

Country House just wasn’t for us.

This place is like Home Away from Home… I have already come several times, The Burgers The Omelets, I mean and the list continues… I mentioned to the Wife you need to come and try it…. So we did, After returning from Daytona and Boom She was also like Wow ! and my Wife Love to Cook and said the food was delicious The Waiters, The Atmosphere what else can I ad ?
I come here at least once a Week, and many of my friends also do, so I been coming regularly now. Also as a Business Owner here in Winter Garden we have to take care of our family Owned businesses.
Give them a visit… You won’t be disappointed

Waitress was scatterbrained and didn’t know what she was doing. We waited 45 minutes for our food. When it came it was almost cold because it was ready a long time ago but she didn’t bother to give it to us when it was ready to be served because she was all over the place. I got biscuits and gravy. It was terrible. Biscuit was extremely doughy and undercooked. Almost raw in the middle and had no taste. Gravy was flavorless and full of black pepper, it barely had any sausage. Go to Mr. Quick on W. Colonial Dr. the food is SO GOOD I promise. They toast your biscuit in butter and the gravy is so delicious and packed with sausage.

Google Maps shows a menu of items that the restaurant serves. It doesn’t show daily specials. We’ve been going to the Country House for over 15 years! Always great food, and great service! I highly recommend it if you want good home cooked meals with vegetables. They also have soup and chili. Most places don’t serve soup anymore. I love a hot bowl or cup of soup as a side dish. Their salads are great, and great coffee too! My parents haven’t been able to physically go out of the house much lately, my Mom passed away in August but I still order meals to go and bring the great food home to my family! We love this place and the owners and workers here! They’re all hard working people!! Delicious food!!

What a surprise finding this hidden gem hiding in plain sight! Good food, good people, busy, so be prepared during high demand eating times.
Nice takes on most diner treats with a southern Georgian flair.
Definitely recommend!

A traditional diner with standard fare. No frills, just basic breakfast food. The pancakes were nice and fluffy, the omelettes were cheesy with fresh veggies and ample meat. The spinach did make my omelette a bit watery. The online menu is off by at least a dollar on the entrees, as the physical menu showed higher prices. The service was quick and not hovering. Hot sauce came in packets, but not the ketchup. The sausage patties tasted more like turkey than pork. $53 for 2 omelettes, a pancake platter, a diet coke and tip.

Service was friendly and quick—that’s the one positive. But the food was a big letdown. My ‘pot roast’ was just sliced roast beef drowned in canned gravy over instant boxed mashed potatoes. The lima beans were good. My girlfriend’s meatloaf might have been homemade, but it came with the same instant potatoes, canned gravy, and steamed frozen broccoli.
You will be disappointed if your idea of hearty, homemade pot roast with rich gravy and creamy mashed potatoes you’d expect from a place called ‘Country House.’ Unfortunately, that’s not what you will get here, it’s more like a quick diner shortcut with packaged ingredients.
