We came over from Ohio to try this place out . We had lunch special (pork chop) and a breakfast. I’m pretty picky bc I’m a good cook so not often am I that impressed. Miss Gloria was our waitress and let me tell you she was a lovely lady . The sweet tea was also delicious and everything was pretty affordable. Definitely homemade. Keep in mind they take cash only tho . We will be back to try more !

I wanted to write this review to give honest feedback to fix things. I went with my family for the first time about a month ago on a Thursday evening. We all got the meatloaf and it was awesome and yummy. Portions were huge and worth 15$ per meal. A couple weeks later we go again on a weekend night and the food and service was awful. Portions were so small and overpriced and the staff was all over the place, and we waited an hour for tiny slider sandwiches that was over 70$. The owner offered everyone fish and turkey he was test cooking as an “I’m sorry the food is taking forever”. We decided to give them another change tonight on meatloaf night since the first time we got meatloaf was really good. Well, they brought us our food and the portions were super small again. We’ll take a bite of the food and all of the food was cold. We told the waitress it was cold and she took it and brought us our food back, it was still cold. This was so disappointing because we wanted it to be as good as the first time we went. 40$ for cold and barely any food on the plate. Sadly they seem more focused on the pizza than any other food. This place would do so much better if the prices were as much as their portions. And also made sure the food was hot and ready to serve before bringing it out to customers. This place is super cute and very food the first time we went. Then it went downhill, we gave them 3 changes to see if it was just a bad day. I hope this helps improve service. God bless

Ordered a ribeye dinner and a chicken salad and was told it would take 25 mins to prepare all this and then 20 minutes to deliver to me. Almost 2 hours later a “delivery driver” pulls up and wanted me to sign for my 49 dollar meals with tip and delivery and didn’t have a pen. Honked when i went inside to get a pen. Kept honking while I was signing the receipt. Commented on the Facebook page a couple times and finally Mike responded with he would take care of a steak. What about the rest since it was ice cold and was almost two hours old? No response. I called the restaurant and spoke to a young girl who couldn’t answer any questions. Spoke to the cook who said Mike wasn’t there and couldn’t approve any orders he approved unless he was there. Called a couple days later. Mike wasn’t there and they refused to deliver me the meals Mike said he would take care of. What’s going on with this place?

Haven’t ate there since i was a kid in the early 2000s but since the new owner took over I’ve eaten there two days in a row, yesterday and today. Yesterday i tried the ribs and meatloaf, today i tried the brisket. Yesterday while waiting on my order to be packed he let me try a piece of ribs it was exactly what you wanted juicy and fell off the bone. The brisket today was soft and not dried out. Now let me get to what will keep me coming back as long as it stays consistent in taste and that was the meatloaf, it reminded me of my mawmaws meatloaf right off the bat. As long as the food taste stays consistent i see them having no problem staying busy for awhile to come. I hope they get all the business they could ever hope for.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but I feel like my experience may be useful for someone looking to eat here.

My daughter and I have eaten here fairly regularly for the past couple years, and we have loved the little place, and it quickly became one of her favorites. Until recently. They are now under new management, and while the hours and wait time seem to be better, everything else seems not so much.

I’ve eaten here a couple times since the new management, and have been very dissatisfied with the service. The most recent time, I attempted to order their new brisket from the small specials card that the waitress carried. The waitress comes back to let me know that they’re out at the moment, which was fine, so I ordered their sirloin steak from the small menu instead. Kiddo ordered a cheeseburger and fries from their usual menu.

The steak I received wasn’t too bad. Fairly under seasoned, but tender and cooked correctly nonetheless. My daughter’s cheeseburger was the same, cooked well but bland. That wasn’t so bad and overall we were satisfied with the food.

When we went to leave and check out, I get to the front register, and see that my bill is almost $50. Concerned, I ask them to check it, and the manager tells me it’s the price of their ribeye.

Ribeye? I ordered a sirloin. I politely tell the manager and waitress that it must have been a mistake, seeing as how I wasn’t exactly planning to spend $30 for a steak. The manager proceeds to tell me that they don’t even serve sirloin, and that he “needs to take it off the menu.” Not really sure who was at fault for the mixup, but it was most definitely not what I had intended to order.

Fine and dandy, sometimes mistakes happen. However, at the end of the day, I was served (and subsequently charged for) a cut of meat that I didn’t ask for, and made that point as clear as I could to them while trying to be respectful. The manager made no attempt to make the situation right and left me with the comment “well, at least it was good!” We paid our needlessly high bill and left, and I don’t think we plan to come back any time soon.

So, if you’re looking to eat somewhere that may or may not serve you what you order, make it bland, and give no cares about righting their mistakes, then this place may be for you. As for me and kiddo, Hilltop Pizza isn’t much further away.
