The crab cakes and chowder is a must try and only 7$. Prolly one if not the best I’ve tried so far. If u are in Rhode Island and need a nice spot to grab some food this is a must. Customer service is awesome!

Service was great. The lady taking orders was a sweetheart, but unfortunately the food was some of the worst I’ve had. I was so looking forward to some clam cakes and Chowder. Naturally living in Virginia I can’t get clam cakes, so only get them when I come to New England. So, I was pretty excited to stop and grab some. Got a large combo, about $15, which was a pint of Chowder and 4 clam cakes. The clam cakes were pretty big. When I broke apart my 1st cake I saw that there was only 1 clam in it. I very large whole clam, that actually looked like a scallop, which made me think it might not have even been a real clam. Literally though, just 1 clam with all the cake fried around that 1 clam. When I actually ate that clam, it was super salty and didn’t taste very good. I then broke apart my other 3 cakes. There was not a single clam at all. No big, minced, chopped, nothing, and all the insides were still battery. They had not been cooked through. The. Chowder was a little bit better, but not much. The potatoes were tender, calling it a potato soup would have been more accurate. It had a pretty bad aftertaste, and again, there were almost no clams other than a couple of those large ones. I had 2 spoonfuls of Chowder and 1/2 a clam cake, then threw the rest away. Very disappointed. Maybe the other food is better, but the clam cakes and Chowder are not.

Everything about our experience was super!
We we’re on a road trip from Harrisburg,PA to Boston and back. On our way back we needed to fill the need for a lobster roll from every state in New England and Rhode Island was today’s state. Luckily for us Howards? (I believe it’s renamed now) was on the way back. The service was super friendly and our food was cooked hot and fresh. We ordered a lobster roll, 2 franks, and bacon cheese fries. Everything we ordered was delicious. I’d recommend stopping here for sure.

Thanks for reading my review. I hope you find it helpful. If you do please give it a thumb up

Best lobster Roll I’ve had in years!
Menu has so much I wanted to try.
If someone asked where they could get quintessential New England road side food like lobster and clam rolls. Clam cakes and chowder. Many other sea food’s plates, etc. This is it!

The BEST lobster roll I’ve had. We come out of our way to stop here when we go into Providence. Their hot roll is so delicious and overflowing with lobster. Stop here, you won’t regret it! Oh and bring cash.

It had been awhile with the sale and change of ownership. Tried tonight bc the lot was full and that has to be a good sign. Red chowder tastes like minestrone, bland, limited clams in the chowder. White chowder way too salty w bacon or salt pork, that’s all you taste. Last and certainly last, clam cakes, very greasy, large, soft, not a clam cake. We had high hopes and love to support local business, this unfortunately was money not well spent.

Cute little place!! Two little dining areas. Very reasonable prices. Have dessert options as well. Drove by today and saw they were doing a soft opening cash only. Sure they will probably transition to credit cards in due timing. Fish and chips were delicious! Definitely recommend stopping in and grabbing something. Looking forward to trying more of their menu.

They have the best clam chowder which is why we drove 2 hours to get there. Not only is their clam chowder great, all their seafood dishes are. The batter isn’t heavy nor is the food greasy despite it being fried. The place isn’t a restaurant, there is no inside seating. You order at a window and take the tray to either side of the building to picnic tables and eat there. These areas are covered but open to the elements/breezes as there are no walls or windows so it is perfect for warm days to enjoy the outside without baking under the sun. (It is closed in winter). The prices are reasonable to moderate and the portions are generous.

Awesome seafood stacked high on your plate to enjoy for at least 2 meals. Biggest and best clam strips ever!!!! No fishy flavor so very fresh. I’m from Florida and am jealous of the seafood from the Country Chowder Shack. More than worth the stop as this is authentic and not a tourist attraction. Go Here! It is a destination. Quintisential Rhide Island fare at a great price!

The food is fantastic, large portions. It’s very clean lots of seats too! Services of food was slow so be patient it’s so worth it it’s really good! And on the left side of the building there’s a dip in the walkway that will cause a walker to bump and make you trip and fall! Don’t like shells for handicapped people either! ☢️
