But tonight I celebrated my 25th birthday and council and oak (the steakhouse inside the casino) did everything right. The teams professionalism, their humor, and knowledge of wine was nothing short of amazing.
My wine paired great with my streak, all 7 meals at the table were cooked to perfection. Since the GM was out on PTO Mr Mark was leading the ship and did a phenomenal job at it! The server Mr Gregory was also the best.
This is my 2nd time dining at council and oak, and it will not be my last time! My first time was a curated 5 course meal with wine pairings so I didn’t get the individual experience that you would at a birthday dinner. This time around I got the intimate experience and was not disappointed! Hard rock, I hope you take good care of the staff here. They are worth every penny!
Thank you to the team at council and oak, and thank you to hard rock for the laughs and joy you provided last night!
The restaurant was loud but vibrant and very tasteful. The chairs we sat in were plush but clean.
The rolls were small and salty and the butter was good, seasoned.
I chose the chopped salad and my husband got the Caesar. Both were good, the ceasar dressing was delicious.
I chose the filet and he chose the strip. We ordered both medium but didn’t realize the strip was bone in so it was much less cooked than expected. Both steaks were good and my husband thought the best we’d had to date, even topped our bisteaka in Florence Italy! There was some kind of rub or seasoning on the steak that was slightly sweet but not offputting, hints of cinnamon and cardamom. The maitredee butter was butter with seasoning, garlic, and goodness on top of the steak. I only wish it hadn’t been ice cold, it really cooled down the meat sooner than it needed to be. For sides I got mashed potatoes and he paid $2 extra for the loaded baked potato. Worth it for the extra, the bacon is thick cut more of a pancetta. I don’t care for gravy but it was actually delightful, tasted like a red wine sauce. So good.
The carrot cake was fine, the icing is light almost like a whipped cream. We asked for it to go because we were full and sampled it later at home. Overall this meal was well worth it. We each also got a larger pour of Pinot grigio (can’t remember size) for $20 a pop. Grand total was $167 before tip. It was well worth the experience, the restaurant is so expensive on a regular day that we felt it was a steal to get to sample it. Also the service was good, waitress was around but not over present and there was a young lady for water, clean up, and who brought bread to the table and she did a nice job. I saw the manager around but he didn’t come to our table, had he I would have told him they did a nice job. 10/10, exceeded expectations. Would come again if they offered a meal deal to try some different menu selections.
The servers are outstanding knowledgeable, confident, and they know the menu inside and out. Their recommendations are always spot on. The food has been consistently great, and on the rare occasion something isn’t up to our standards (or theirs), the manager fixes it immediately whether that’s offering a complimentary dessert or discounting the dish. You feel taken care of.
The server assistants don’t miss a beat, topping off your glass after every sip. It genuinely feels like VIP treatment every time we walk in.
Even the hostess is friendly and accommodating, which sets the tone right away.
If there’s one knock, it’s the bar. The service over there just doesn’t compare to the restaurant side the difference is noticeable.
Inside the dining room, though? Consistently a five-star experience.
Our waitress even surprised us with an anniversary dessert, and my husband said it was one of the best sweet treats he’s had.
We enjoy a trip to the casino occasionally and loved that we found this kind of meal in the casino.
The only thing we found strange was the lack of seating for 2. They have very large tables and booths or hightop and bar seating but nothing for couples looking for a bit more private dining..
