We both had the #53. It came with fries, coleslaw & hush puppies. We substituted the coleslaw for beans & rice, the French fries for Cajun rice. The fish (not sure if it was catfish) was cornmeal battered, the fries were regular battered. They offered different sides & desserts. We ate everything, so it couldn’t have been that bad. The time we came in, it was busy. But the woman up front was nice, even toned & friendly. There were other places to try in the area, but we’re glad we chose Cotton

Austin Battles

Seems like a neat little place that seemed popular for the town size on a Monday evening. I came a little over an hour before they closed, so I’m not sure if timing plays a factor but they were out of oysters and fish and bread pudding. I should have just went somewhere else, but the young lady at the counter also seemed rude and put my name down incorrectly and so when they called the order out there was some grins. I was feeling very frustrated from both the lack of what I wanted to order and the rude young lady behind the counter. Not sure I’ll be back. How do you get Austin and “hosta” mixed up..

Woooweeee…..that chicken is good!!
We are from Texas, driving through, Catherine from Germany colony referred us to stop if we like good chicken, so glad we did!
We ate in the car abd witnessed people in and out, so i know this is a Hotspot for good delicious crispy chicken!

It’s ok. I didn’t find it to be as good as the reviews and the local people claiming it to be. I found my chicken to be simply fried. I felt it lacked flavor. The seasoning felt too mild in all – chicken, shrimp and fish. Maybe if the seasoning was better and more intense, it would have tasted better. No spice, barely tasted like salt and nothing else. I had to use a lot of hot sauce and ranch to enjoy it. But it was served hot and really fresh. Staff was cool, nice and helpful. I’ve no clue why people from other cities and states travel just to eat fried chicken here.

We were looking so forward to an oyster dinner. They used to have the best. Now I’d have to say it was the worst meal I’ve ever had in Minden. They used to cook them in cornmeal. Now, it’s a breading coat on there that is absolutely horrible. It was hard to find any oyster in there, as you can see in the photos. I never once even tasted oyster. The french fries were not crisp and were soggy in the middle. The hush puopies were good. Forty dollars wasted and will never go back. We had a better meal at Wendy’s last week

It was fast, nice customer service, but the fish isn’t season at all. Also I don’t think I’m eating catfish I’ve think I am eating Basa it’s quite a small amount for the price. It’s okay the mashed potatoes are great.

Hands down the best place to eat in Minden every time I visit. I personally get the “Chicken Fried Steak Fingers” with white gravy instead of Brown for the fingers. But, when I get the mashed potatoes they have to have the brown gravy. I have tried their chicken and it’s just as good. The staff is always great to interact with. Especially the sweet lady with the pin curls, she is too sweet and adorable.
I will always recommend this place to anyone that’s looking for a great meal at a great price…

Well, I have been trying to visit this establishment for almost the last six months. I would either be going through town and they were closed or they would be so packed I knew I could never explain why it took so long to make it back to work. Not today – thank the rain gods…
A girl at work would make me a plate of gizzards when I would bring some, and she mentioned Cottons as the best place to get some. I have tried a couple of other places and they were alright, but they just don’t seem to be on the menu at a lot of joints around here.
We were snackish, and still 45 minutes from home and what to my surprise – Cottons open and only three vehicles in the parking lot – I whipped in and ordered us a gizzard plate and two med drinks. It did not take long to get my hot package and get back to the car and rip that bag open. We were out playing a game with our phones – so I am gonna chock it up to my phone being busy – my eye beholding the plate of perfectly fried nuggets and my mouth exploding with anticipation of getting one – is the reason I did not snap a pic. I did get the menu board though while waiting…
Delicious – the batter – the crunch – the bit of heat at the end…. It was the closest I have ever had to my perfect plate of gizzards and then for other reasons better than. The crunch was just as good 30 min later as it was when I opened them. The seasoning was great. Overall the texture was fantastic – although there were a few that had the chewy tendon that so many people say is why they avoid gizzards all together. It was only a few – which is why I have such high praise. Wish I could share the family secret for taking care of that chewy tendon, and if they share the seasoning and batter secret I just might. Can not wait to go back and get some more gizzards for the picture – and snatch up some chicken or fish for the family.

I really do love their food but I get so disappointed every time I eat there. I wish you had a choice of reg or spicy cause I can not eat it for the spiciness. My husband loves it but I can’t do it. Please give us a choice of reg or spicy.
