This is my dream scenario! A unique neighborhood place that has the local dishes and flair. The Cottage in has been around for around 100 years set in a house in a neighborhood. The have southern food and it’s good! The fried green tomatoes were excellent and I’ve never gotten 10 tomatoes in an order! I never had Kentucky Hot Brown but it was surprisingly good ( basically an open face turkey club smothered in gravy) The service was excellent. Go there just for the step back in time!

Went for the nostalgia and because it was listed as one of the best hot browns. The service was top notch, I loved the staff! Such a quaint little restaurant! It was full when I got there which says a lot for how popular it is. I got the hot brown because it was listed as being great but I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. The cheese sauce tasted like it was made out of processed American cheese, it looked like the ham was some kind of processed grocery store ham. The turkey was delicious, as was the bacon and thick fresh tomatoes. The thick fresh bread was also quite delicious. The highlight of my meal was the collard greens which I don’t normally order in a restaurant but I decided to give it a try. Super delicious, cooked with bacon and very well seasoned.

Cottage Inn in Louisville delivers classic Southern comfort with no-frills charm. The place is small, casual, and a bit cluttered with dirty tables when I arrived, but the lone server on duty was quick, efficient, and got me settled without delay. I went with their recommendation and ordered the fried pork chop dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans — a choice I didn’t regret.

The meal arrived in about 10 minutes, and those pork chops were outstanding: two large, golden-fried beauties with a perfectly crispy, seasoned crust that held up with each bite. The pork itself was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The mashed potatoes with brown gravy were decent but felt a bit skimpy compared to the generous portion of pork chops. The green beans, on the other hand, stole the show — loaded with bacon and brimming with savory Southern flavor.

Despite the service being stretched thin and the dining area needing a bit more attention to cleanliness, the food truly delivered. If you’re looking for comfort food done right, Cottage Inn hits the mark. I’ll definitely swing by again when I’m in town.

If you check my other reviews, im usually not quick to judge harshly, but this place was absolutely awful. I asked for my burger to be well done, and it was undercooked heavily throughout with pink dark enough to be red in some spots. The salad was disgusting with old lettuce and frozen chicken. The lemonade was a disgrace to lemonade everywhere. It tasted watered down with dirty tap water.
The waitress continuously made googoo eyes at me the whole time and was way too friendly. The tables were dirty, and even though the waitress kept slamming in and out the door to the back, she never cleaned them.
The only saving grace this place had was that the fries that came with my underdone burger were salted well.

I had high expectations on Cottage Inn based on previous reviews that mentioned them having the best fried chicken in town.
Portions are HUGE and presentation was OK but the food was bland.
We got the fried pork chop meal with mashed potatoes and corn bread, a chicken blt sandwich and fries, a fried chicken meal with mash potatoes and collard greens and a kids grilled cheese and corn. I also had a sweet tea which was not sweet.
The cornbread was a cupcake. It wasn’t like cornbread at all but like a very sweet and fluffy cake.
One order of masked potatoes was supposed to be without gravy but had gravy anyway.
The chicken was fried well but had no flavor.
The collard greens were not fresh or seasoned well and may have been from out of a can.
Once we added some condiments to the food it was enjoyable enough and we did eat a good portion of our food.
Our server, Melissa was trying her best to provide good service but she dropped the ball a few times. Our child was coloring a little rough with one of two crayons they provided with his kids menu and Melissa stopped in the middle of taking our order to tell us that they only have a few crayons in the house and would appreciate it if our toddler didn’t ruin them.
The space was very tight where we were sat and we were very close to the bathroom but we did get to sit by a big window with a beautiful view of the front yard so that was enjoyable.
Maybe they were having an off day but overall, we will not be back.

My family ordered delivery on Thursday evening. Our order was wrong, as in sides missing, the chicken tender salad with only lettuce, one tender cut up and the wrong cheese. The liver and onions that was ordered came as individual chicken livers that tasted like fish. (and one of the dinners that came with no sides). Two dinners came with moldy rolls. I could not believe we paid $180 for this trash. We called multiple times with no answer and I tried to email them to what I thought was an email address on their website. I will never eat here again and I plan to not recommend them anyone who asked. Please work on your customer service and food. The $15 salad needs more than lettuce, cheese and chicken. Do better.

I tried this place for lunch the first time and it was great! I got the chicken and waffles, and mashed potatoes with white gravy. The chef made this meal for me even though they weren’t serving breakfast at the time. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes were awesome. I thought the waffle was bland and lacked flavor. I would definitely come here again and sit down to eat.

I’m in town for weekend with 2 of my 3 kids to visit the Waverly Hill Sanatorium for a night ghost tour which we are all excited about. We came across the Cottage Inn by chance and I’m sure glad we found it. We were seated right away and our service was splendid. I ordered the country fried steak with the brown gravy and fries. I wanted collard greens but unfortunately they were out. So I settled for a side salad. My daughter had the biggest chicken bacon club sandwich I ever seen and my son who is an expert on chicken tenders, order the tenders to nobodies surprise. He also really enjoyed then. For dessert we picked up a couple slices of cake to snack on later. One carrot and one strawberry. I’m looking forward to trying them both. I would highly recommend stopping by and having a meal anytime.

Oh my gosh the dessert cakes are delicious baked fresh from a local bakery. The sweet waitress having only been working there for two weeks. Did a great job. Ask for Cynthia.. We enjoyed the delicious food and will be back. Oh the wife ask do try the Chicken parmesan. Very friendly staff and nice clean restaurant.
