I had to go to Morristown memorial hospital for a few tests and had to fast the night before. So once I got out at noon I was starving so I came to Cottage II.
I had a lunch special for $13.50. Shredded Schewan Beef, with fried rice and wonton soup and I ordered schwan Dumpling as an appetizer. All the food was very fresh. Especially dumplings, out of this world. The waitress was a young girl , you can tell did not want to be there. She gave me an attitude when I asked for more napkins lol! Oh youth, the don’t want to work. Food was very good. Ill be back.

I was originally going to rate them 2 stars, but then I remembered how bad everything was. I use to come there all the time with my parents when I was little. Back then the quality was excellent… but apparently they are under new ownership now. The quality has tanked significantly. Also the staff there now is impatient, and most of the time act like customers are the biggest inconvenience and treat us like we are beneath them. Literally. Today when I walked in to pick up my food and one of the staff actually groaned and huffed that there was someone who needed help. I have friends who already refuse to go back due to how bad the food and staff are.
Today, I went to order lunch and was treated like I was a child for not realizing that it was after 3pm. My work clock was malfunctioning and was reading before 3pm. Apparently it was after 3pm and the person at the other end of the phone was less than patient. I chose an appetizer and a soup. I had trouble remembering which soup I wanted and every time I tried to talk or ask any questions, she would shout “WHAT SOUP” and “WHAT SOUP DO YOU WANT” repeatedly. Even when I told her what soup I wanted, she still kept yelling “WHAT SOUP” at me. I probably told her what soup I wanted a minimum of 6 times. By the time I finally was able to finish placing my 2 item order, she had spent most of the 3 minute phone call yelling “WHAT SOUP” at me without actually listening to me telling her the soup I wanted. when I finally got my food and made it back to work, the Crab Ragoons I got were just warm on the outside and BOILING hot on the inside. It was somehow oily and moisture sucking dry at the exact same time. The temperature of the soup was so hot that it was inedible. I could not even put the spoon near my mouth as the steam burned me. I am lucky none of it went onto the carpet, because it would have 100% melted it. the soup was unnaturally hot. So much so that the lid of the plastic container the soup was in was deformed. the only way it could have gotten this hot was if they put the soup in the microwave for 5 minutes. Needless to say It was inedible. The only good part of this experience was out of the last 3 times I picked up food, this was the only time that I didn’t find hair INSIDE the food or at the bottom of a empty take out container.

the price has also been inflated and is far from worth it. I am beyond disappointed with the direction this place has gone. they have lost a loyal customer.

I wrote a review earlier but didnt know how to add pictures. This place is beyond disgusting! The only reason why we ordered here is because Top China is temporarily close and we happen to pass by here. We ordered sesame chicken and beef with Broccoli.. we ended up throwing it out. We called to ask for a refund because the sesame chicken is nothing but fat. The woman said its “dark meat,” no ma’am that’s fat! The beef with Broccoli tasted like its just been heated up in the microwave, it still has clumps of sauce that didnt heat up evenly. The woman said they have never had a single complain. I should of read the reviews first before ordering here. Disgusting food, poor customer service. No wonder I’ve never seen this place pack.

Be prepared to bring your wallet. Tiny portions now. Before you used to get those big black rectangle dishes when you ordered a large now it’s these tiny white bowls. Pictured (bowl) was $17. What a joke Biden economy strikes again. Prices way up portions way down. No thanks.

One of our favorite spots for traditional Chinese dishes. The Hot & Sour soup is one of the best I’ve had. They have a few different types of dumplings (all are delicious and fresh). Portions are a good size and each dish has great flavor.

Reliable delicious authentic food at a reasonable price. The food is better than the prices would lead you to expect. And the portions are on the larger size. In NYC a meal of this quality would cost much more. The decor is nice. The focus is on the food. We always order too much when we eat there because we love to have the leftovers

I got takeout last week. Food was not that great. They added an 18% tip to the bill without asking. What would I tip if I’m driving over there? Check your bill if you go there.

This place use to be amazing!!! The best Chinese food in Morristown. About 7 years ago when they changed owners everything went down hill. The food is gross. The portions have been cut. The prices have gone up. The owners are not nice at all. Cottage 2 was my families Chinese restaurant for over 25 years. It’s a shame that this gem has gone down hill.
