I visited Cottage Bakery in Sublimity on Saturday Feb. 29, 2026, and while I was there the owner was raising her voice and yelling (berating) one of the gals that was working. I could tell the gal was trying to keep her composure and was just trying to stay focused on the customers and providing good service, but the owner just kept escalating her bad behavior. It was SO UNCOMFORTABLE witnessing an employee getting treated in such a negative way. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. I should have spoken up, but I was worried it would further set off the owner. Shame on this owner for treating another person like this, whether an employee or not, NO ONE should be yelled at and spoken to in such a manner!

The food is absolutely delicious! Great pecan rolls, the raspberry coffee cake is fabulous (get it warm) coffee is great. I love to go there for a quiet and delicious visit with friends and family!!

We rented the converted garage in the back for my niece’s bridal shower, and it was such a great experience. The tables, chairs, and black tablecloths were all provided, and there are lots of outlets on the window wall for heating the food we brought. We had 15 people in attendance, and the space would have easily held twice that amount. We also loved being able to open the garage doors since it was such a beautiful day. There is a lot of onsite parking, and the restrooms inside the cafe are available for use. Debbie is so flexible and easy to work with, and our entire experience was just fantastic. Highly recommend.

Stopped by for the first time for a sweet treat. I got their mixed berry scone. Absolutely delicious! It comes in a GF option as well. If you haven’t tried this lovely little place, I suggest you do!

Such a delightful establishment! My parents and I are visiting from CA, and my uncle wanted to bring us to “one of my favorite coffee shops.” We can definitely see why it is! The staff was welcoming, and their service went above and beyond. The food (we split a cinnamon and a pecan roll and had various types of hot and iced teas) delicious, exceeding our expectations. Inside the shop was bright and homey, and smelled of cinnamon and fresh baked pastries. There are a number of places to sit and talk or work indoors, but we chose to sit out back on the patio with the warm sunshine and pleasant breeze. We were able to meet the owner, Debbie, and her father, who greeted us warmly and stopped to chat briefly. I’m already planning on coming here again the next time I’m in the Salem area!

Service was great, they even bring your coffee to the table for you. The pastries weren’t sickly sweet, the coffee was well balanced. The atmosphere is nice. Beautiful place. No loud music, easy to chat.
