The service was no good at all there (I don’t know why, probably because it was too busy or short of staff?) ♂️☹️ – long waiting time for taking our order, no staff around for me to ask for an extra knife, bill, card payment… I’m not really happy with me paying 10% service charge for such a restaurant.
Waitress was very friendly and profesional. I ordered meat which was delicious, well cooked that you didnt need even knife, melted in mouth – love it.
Tasty drinks.
The service was abysmal . Staff making eye contact yet continuing to ignore you . Hygiene was minus the highest number. The food was terrible . I did not eat anything . My onion soup tasted of water . The sea bream looked boiled and not grilled . It was served skin facing upwards . Underneath the fish were cherry tomatoes and fake soggy saute potatoes . The steaks were tough . The fries cold and stale . Cote were advertising free flow frites which we did not experience . Instead they served the tiniest portion of stale old fries with no top ups offered . The mousse was sloppy and runny . We ordered a double mousse for 2 and they served one forgetting the second one which they tried to serve 20 minutes later. We could not get the attention of any staff . Finally I asked for the bill which took time to arrive . No one came back with the card machine for payment . After waiting some more time we got up and made our way to the exit stopping to pay. The food was not fresh and inedible . Avoid at all costs. Complete waste of money .
The food was hit and miss. The chicken was okay, the béarnaise sauce was too buttery (on the hollandaise-y side with not enough tarragon), and the burgers were too poor in presentation and taste too. See for yourself. For the £18 it should have been served with a lot more to be desired for. On the other hand, the creme brûlée was superb.
Now, the service. The waitress either hated our guts or she is like that always. I guess I wanted to feel like I was welcomed in the restaurant and I suppose I needed a smile from her. One would have been enough. Saying that, she served us well, it was just that, a smile was needed. She is, after all, working as a server.
Oh and one last thing. We were charged £1 for charity and on the bill it was added under “Mains away” which is a ridiculous place to put that charge. (See image) Without even informing us of the fact. Mains away. That’s funny. I mean what, you call our mains, and charge us for the call? Pft.
My boyfriend ordered the half chicken, it was very dry. To be honest we could have made better food at home and for cheaper. What’s the purpose of eating out?
Service was inattentive throughout. We were not given enough menus. Syrup for a drink and water for the table were both forgotten entirely. Mayonnaise, asked for by two of us, arrived just as I was finishing my meal. Two of us ordered a refill under their “endless frites” offer and received a single small tray, after which no further refill was offered. Drinks and dishes were handed haphazardly across the table to us. When it came time to pay, we waited over ten minutes to be acknowledged despite staff passing the table regularly. I had the impression our waiter was completely disinterested.
Food was very mixed. Some of the food was fine: calamari, a vegetarian burger, the salmon. I ordered a flat white that was surprisingly bitter. The nicoise salad featured tuna that was seared to the point of bitterness, with an overpowering smoke that masked the fish entirely. My mussels were poor: several contained sand, multiple had broken shells, one had a barnacle still attached. I suspect they hadn’t been cleaned properly, and they didn’t come across as fresh. The frites were unsalted, in small portions, and lukewarm at first.
The restaurant was clean, pleasant enough, a little crowded, and not particularly noisy.
With so many excellent options across Windsor (or at home, even), we won’t be returning.
We will definitely be returning one day!!
Thank you so much for making our special day so wonderful!
