I had my birthday lunch here and Anna was such a delight – Cote is very lucky to have her! The food is fantastic as usual as we have now been coming here every year. But please bring back the steak tartare!

We’re big Côte fans and regulars at this restaurant – partly because of their Coeliac UK accreditation, but mainly because the food and service are usually top class.

Valentine’s Day, however, brought us a slightly different experience.

The food and wine were exceptional, as always. The kitchen, on the other hand, appeared to be participating in its own romantic drama.

Drinks and starters (king prawns and charcuterie) were spot on. Then came the main event: the Côte de boeuf to share, with fries, truffle hollandaise, mushrooms and broccoli.

What followed can only be described as a three-act performance.

Act 1: The magnificent steak arrives… accompanied by an unexpected supporting character (dauphinois potatoes we hadn’t ordered). Our server promises plates and broccoli and disappears into the night.

Act 2: Our lovely regular server notices we’re admiring – but not eating – the steak. We explain we’re still waiting for plates, broccoli, mushrooms, fries and hollandaise. She springs into action.

Act 3: Plates and sauce arrive. After 10 minutes of respectfully staring at the beef, we dive in. The steak is cooked and seasoned to perfection. Just as we finish, the broccoli and fries make their entrance. Undeterred, we order more fries and gravy and happily continue the evening in instalments.

To be fair, everything we ate was delicious. It just didn’t always appear in the same chapter.

We didn’t complain – we were having a lovely night and actually found the chaos rather entertaining. The atmosphere was buzzing, and our server handled it all with warmth and humour.

The only slight surprise was that, despite the manager apparently being informed several times, the bill arrived without any adjustment. We weren’t expecting anything dramatic, but it did feel like one final plot twist.

That said, we remain loyal Côte customers. We may simply choose a slightly less theatrical evening next time!

A real Fawlty Towers experience! Absolutely chaotic from start to finish although the food was delicious, hence the 4 stars. They were obviously overwhelmed by the excellent (and very cheap) social media offer, as the restaurant was packed but the service was atrocious. The staff were pleasant enough but clearly very stressed by what I can only assume was a bottleneck in the kitchen. After a long wait our mains came out before our starters and then we had to wait another 30 mins for our starter (French onion soup, delicious!). Then another 40 mins for our mains (steak frites and chicken salad, also very tasty). Long wait for drinks and manager was clearly ruffled because he told me to “wait until I’ve finished speaking”!… And he wasn’t even French!! He then said we could have the meal completely free without us asking for this, which I wasn’t expecting and, quite frankly, I don’t know how they can give away free food and drink. Maybe a discount or voucher for next time would be more appropriate. All the other diners were experiencing the same difficulties. A real shame as the food was top quality and the staff were pleasant (Basil Fawlty excepted!) but obviously very stressed. Won’t be back until they get their act together. We’ve been to many Cote restaurants but this branch lets the brand down big time.

Fantastic food from start to finish. Our server was also very pleasant and the dining room was clean and dimly lit. Only real letdown was a pretty sad Parisian hot chocolate which could only be compared to a cadburys instant hot chocolate. After three separate staff memvers came over to ask what was wrong I insisted it didn’t taste very nice and it was removed from bill. 10% service stayed on which suited me as service overall was fantastic.

Hardly know where to start. We were there 18 months ago for a very special lunch which was underwhelming at best. We received an email recently asking us to give them another try so we did. Tonight. We booked for 8pm and when we arrived we were told that the kitchen closed at 8pm. So we had to hurry up and place our orders. Our main course came within five minutes of ordering which was good and actually tasted fine. The staff were so busy chatting amongst themselves they barely noticed we had finished our mains. We ordered cheese which was barely enough to feed a mouse and was so badly cut it was embarrassing. We will not be back. From a fabulous restaurant to an absolute disaster. What a shame. Clearly no-one in charge anymore that cares about customer service!

Based on the fixed price I did have some high expectations…I think they were generally struggling to cope with the numbers. The food on the whole was ok..not awesome flavours but clearly competent chefs. Nice salmon starter, main was ok despite me being swapped from confit duck to pork belly. Long wait for dessert..nearly 50mins. (Despite being told we had a strict 2 hour table window) Service generally was inattentive as we had to keep asking for things.Christmas pudding was very odd…basically ice cream with some crushed biscuits ..it was very tasty but not Christmas pudding with brandy cream.. cheese was very good but not sour dough as per the menu. £218 for two was pretty pricey for all this…if I’d have been drinking it would have been dearer.not sure I’d rush back tbh..had a chain restaurant feel which for a special day (Xmas) was a shame and they don’t take cash

We were in the neighborhood doing some shopping and one of the shoppes mentioned Côte. It was nearby and we walked in during a busy lunch time. The accommodated us very nicely considering we didn’t have a reservation. I adore French food but never get to go when dining with my daughter who is gluten and dairy free. However, they had so many items to choose from for her. The food was outstanding!!! Cannot wait to go back.

I’ve been there for breakfast, I ordered avocado toast, it was really good, the sourdough was soft, avocado was fresh. The environment is friendly and kind of cozy. Highly recommended.
