It was my family’s first time going there, although my parents are regulars.
We got there before 5:30 on a Saturday. It was steady but not in the weeds and they had plenty of workers presently staffed.
They don’t need to advertise on the menu a full bar because they cannot make an old fashioned. In fact, they told me after 30 minutes of waiting for it to be made, to pick something easier. So I got wine. No bartender either.
Our waitress sucked and we waited nearly 2 hours for our meal, had to get our own refills on water and soda.
My husband said we will not be back. It’s a shame because the pasta sauce was authentic and the food was really good. House dressing in salad was amazing. The atmosphere was a good vibe. Basically the manager had to wait on us because our waitress got lost.

The food was delicious as always but they were short on wait staff and it took quite awhile to get our food. Was very disappointed when they brought out breadsticks, not their usual. When we asked what happened to their fantastic breadsticks, we were told we could still purchase a breadstick for $2.00. Wish we were told that to begin with. The portions have also gotten quite a bit smaller. But still delicious .

ONE OF OUR FAVORITE PLACES! Should you be in the Hoover area any day or evening of the week other than Sunday, you owe it to yourself to visit this restaurant. When you enter, you’ll feel as you are walking back in time. The restaurant appears not to have any updates in the past 50 years, but it doesn’t matter. You won’t come here for the atmosphere – you come here for the food and also the service. Last night my wife and I shared the baked spaghetti, salad and both had iced tea. Of course the delicious bread is included and our total bill including tax was $26. We ate and ate and took home a pound of baked spaghetti in a to go box! As good as the food was, our server Carrie was just that good. You’ll feel welcome here and you’ll want to come back again and again. 5 Stars plus!

We dined in last evening. The food was excellent, the service was very slow. Seemed to be only 2 servers on the floor during the dinner time rush. The server was doing the best that she could. She had 8-10 tables by herself. Looks like a staffing issue, more than a server issue. She was very pleasant though.

Been going here for YEARS. The food is seriously delicious. I think the owner needs to reconsider the new breadsticks and change it back to the old bread. The bread USED to be so delicious and absolutely addicting. To put it lightly… the new bread is really really bad. I would absolutely 5 dollars more for the good quality bread that once was.

We had some reasonably priced lamb and chicken pesto pasta. Both were very well seasoned and cooked perfectly. We will be back.
Second trip we ate lamb again and tried the salmon. Delicious.

I ordered lasagna for 5. Upon opening the pan, I immediately knew something was different from the look of it. I have been ordering this dish for about 20 years. It tastes nothing like it normally. Does. It lacked flavor. The sauce is no longer the full-bodied darker red sauce. In fact, there wasn’t mine sauce at all and the meat had a interesting texture that I am not used to . Normally, there is sauce in the bottom of the pan you can use to sop your bread in, this time there was only water!!!! This is one dish that had been consistent. It’s what I take to families that lose a loved. A customer has been lost. I am truly disappointed.

The food and service never fail to be anything less than amazing! The Filet Kabob was so tender and cooked to perfection. Others had, lasagna, chicken parm, veal parm and shrimp fettuccine Alfredo. Had an amazing Anti pasta salad that was so fresh and delicious! We treated ourselves to desert of ltiramisu and cheese cake . We love this place!

We go to Costa’s regularly because their food never disappoints! But I want to address the negatives: Manager/Owner, I’m not the first to write that the entire restaurant needs a deep cleaning!! The oil bottles and spices mix on the tables are really dirty. So are the ceiling fans. There is NO bartender so I wouldn’t advertise this because nobody knows how to mix a cocktail. I’ve also seen many people complain that the bread has been changed and I don’t care for it either! Please go back to the original bread! They need someone to bus tables and booths, and thoroughly wipe them clean in between customers. What we like: the salmon, lasagna, baked ziti, filet, rosemary potatoes, and steamed vegetables.
UPDATE: I am pleased to report that Costa’s has cleaned up and made improvements to address the concerns mentioned in the above which was posted 4 months ago.
