I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Cortland Colonial in Hudson valley, NY, USA.
We had reserved by phone, but there may have been a misunderstanding about our arrival time. We called to say we would be about 15 minutes late, close to their closing time, and they kindly waited for us. They even allowed us to place our order over the phone while we were still driving, so our dishes were ready shortly after we sat down — incredibly thoughtful.
We ordered a chicken specialty and a beef steak with a salad, and both dishes were honestly very good, especially considering the very reasonable prices. Great quality for the budget.
The owners, a lovely couple, were exceptionally kind and attentive throughout our meal.
A highly recommended stop for anyone passing through the area and looking for good food, warm service, and excellent value.

The menu has a lot to offer and we certainly ordered a lot! Everything from the tossed salad to the service was wonderful! My family and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon dinner together at the Cortlandt Colonial Restaurant. If you’re in the area, I recommend the lobster balls.

We got married here in October 2023 and everything was perfect, from our first visit to see the space, through the last dance! Evan made the planning process as stress free as possible. His knowledge and expertise is second to none; his suggestions were all spot on. The indoor and outdoor spaces were beautiful and well maintained. The staff were attentive and friendly all night. Our guests are still talking about how amazing the food was and the apple cider donut sundae bar at the end of the night was a hit! We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding. It truly was the best day of our lives!

The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere, the bathroom was spotless and smelled nice and the staff was exceptional. My only disappointment was the food. It was okay. There wasn’t enough of the appetizers for everyone at the table and the wings and potato skins were dry. The prime rib was very dry and the stuffed shrimp were overcooked. On the bright side, the mixed vegetables were delicious. Seasoned and cooked perfectly.

We had our son’s wedding here last night. I could not have been happier with this place. Evan, the owner was so accommodating and made sure he did everything he could to keep me calm and make the night as memorable as possible. The service was great. The food was incredible. I’ve never been to a wedding where they come around and ask you if you want seconds! Well, they did just that here! Evan is truly someone who cares about keeping his guests happy and there was no text message that he didn’t answer no matter how ridiculous or constant they were! If you want a fancy, stuffy wedding this may not be your place. But if you want amazing service, great food, and an honest establishment that doesn’t charge you an arm and a leg. This is your place.!!! Kudos to Evan and his staff for the best night ever !!’

The place is amazing with excellent service and fantastic food. My fiancé and I went during Lobsterfest and got the Lobster Newburgh. The portion was massive and it came with soup and a dessert. The staff were very accommodating, especially with our 1-year-old. The owner, Evan, is amazing, very social and talkative, if you get the opportunity to see him. One of the best spots in the Peekskill area.

I came here often with my grandparents many many years ago. They loved the salad bar. My family and I were really disappointed with our meal tonight . We wanted to try something new and left super unhappy with spending near $100 for 3 people. No drinks,appetizers or desserts. Basic entrees like chicken. The only positive was the friendly hostess who greeted us with a big smile. It was a weekday with 3 other tables and everything took FOREVER. The waitress was not friendly or attentive. The food was honestly gross. No seasoning, tastless, burnt veggies. We all had something different and just had a few bites before mentioning how awful the food was. Yes, the portions are big but food is below average quality. Now home to make some “dinner”
