I never write reviews for food or restaurants, as I work in the industry and understand what reviews can do. However, after calling to talk to someone about our order and basically being told “I’ll let my boss know.”. I just have to post this. The galbi meats were completely inedible, overcooked, dry and disgusting. There was hardly any meat and mostly bones. The rest of the bowls were just rice and a flavorless cucumber. We love cucumber salad and ordered an extra. It had tons of sauce and looked good, but tasted like nothing. Zero flavor. The fried chicken bowl looked nothing like the picture and was so dry and overcooked. This is not fried chicken (See picture attached of what we received.) $70 worth of food and not eating any of it. No offer to refund or make it right on the phone. Sad to say, we will never be back.

The owner is really nice and helpful and thinking through options so I would give that 5/5. Ultimately, I think the food is 3 out of five, but if you’re in the mood for it, go for it!

I got the pancake, but would not really suggest it unless you’re in for something kind of weird and interesting. The wings were all right, but pretty heavily breaded.

I don’t really write reviews normally, but I got the mushroom okonomiyaki and the middle was completely raw. I love Durham Food Hall, and the service was totally fine, but I probably won’t be back to this specific stall because only half of the meal was edible.

This was my second time here. The first time it was okay. Husband came to Durham for an appt so we decided to come to the food hall again. I’m sorry, but the ramen was bland and tasteless! You want ramen go somewhere else. It looked delicious until I tried the broth and the pork! Tasteless and that was with my husband adding chili oil for me! I spent the money so I took it home to doctor it up! I also had the crab bao, the avocado spread was obviously not fresh, but that gets a solid star on its own, it was good. Customer service, when I told my husband they forgot to give him the bao, he went up to the counter and asked for the crab bao, guy looked at him like what’s a bao! Overall, not coming again

I was super disappointed , got the pancake and it was funky tasting like old sushi. I also got the pork belly buns, the pork belly was so tough you couldn’t eat it. All you could taste is the kimchi, we basically threw away the whole meal minus 1 bite of each

I had a great experience at Corner Yaki. Greg took care of me and was genuinely helpful the entire time—friendly without being over the top, and really attentive. The food was cooked by Teo, and he absolutely knows what he’s doing. Everything came out hot, seasoned perfectly, and cooked exactly the way it should be.

Overall, solid service, great food, and a smooth visit from start to finish. I’d definitely come back.

UPDATE: I came back and tried the “Mall” Chicken Bowl. It was disappointing. Someone forgot to wash the rice and it wasn’t fully cooked so the rice pasty and crunch (inedible!). The chicken and string beans were OK, nothing outstanding about it. For $17, the food is not worth it. Sad to say but I won’t be back.

I should preface by saying this is not authentic Japanese food BUT it is an ode to Japanese food with NC ingredients. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. New menu items are presented on the counter where you order (the are not on the online menu) with PICTURES!

For my lunch, I ordered the short rib dumplings and Karaage Bowl.

The dumplings are well seasoned and the skin is chewy (none of the skin broke so +1) but the sauce is a tad too thick and probably didn’t help that it was served in a paper plate where it immediately started to absorb any moisture present.

The Karaage Bowl was delicious but I’m not a fan of raw cabbage (slaw?) in my rice bowl. The Karaage was marinated well crispiness. The rice on the bottom was the star. Every grain is cooked to perfection.

All in all, I enjoyed my meal and look forward to trying other menu items.

We’re typically big lovers of CY. Got the pork ramen today and it smelled like pork grease and had no flavor. Mall chicken was solid as usual.

I’ve tried Corner Yaki a few times now (around 5) and every single time I’ve been underwhelmed. The food is flavorless and almost always greasy – it’s disappointing… especially when there are so many good asian restaurants in the area.

I beat myself up every time I get tempted by a rice bowl because I should’ve just got a salad or food from elsewhere.

Their dumplings are pretty solid, but apart from that I’d recommend finding a different spot to eat at.

Ramen took 20 mins to be done, my partner was able to get a meal and halfway finish it from one of their neighbors in the time for me to receive my order. Honestly I would not wish this ramen upon my worst enemy, somehow it is able to accomplish the feat of being worst than instant ramen.
