This is a great corner taco joint. Don’t expect some trendy hipster hangout. There are about 5 tables, cold drinks in the cooler and fresh food being made. If you want the specials, get there early as they’ll sell out. The chicken and steak tacos are fantastic. Do yourself a favor and order tacos for the entire family. Will be back

They have some of the best tacos. I always get the chicken and steak on a corn tortilla with cilantro and onion. The staff is super friendly and the food is fresh. Beats any of the food trucks tacos I’ve had.

La Costena has the best authentic Mexican food, (the best menudo around every sunday) cooked and prepared fresh right in front of you or you can call in and order and it will be ready when you arrive. I love the atmosphere and the friendly service you get from the owner and his family. Very nice individuals. My family and I absolutely love La Costena and enjoy coming here often. I would highly recommend anyone who loves real Mexican food to add La Costena to the top of their list of places to dine at. 5 stars for sure.

I just got a taco & a mango juice in a bottle, but they were both great. The taco was not what I was expecting: steak with lettuce & a shredded, melted, white cheese (did not taste like the normal Mexican white cheese crumbles which I don’t like). Steak was tasty; seasoned & grilled well. I did not miss the cilantro & onions. The flour tortilla was so good, I questioned whether there was a little tortilleria in the back. The hot sauce was hot on its own, but blended into the taco perfectly & lost almost all its heat, but kept most of its flavor.

Listen, the food, especially the tacos de carne asada, here are amazing!! By far the best tacos I’ve had since living in southern CA, maybe ever. It’s worth the drive if you’re not too close and you should definatley stop if you’re passing by on the way to and from the beach. You won’t be disappointed!! Excellent!!!!

I’m not sure what to say here. This is a small store that doesn’t provide good service, inviting atmosphere, or huge selection but yet I find myself stopping here everytime I pass by. Stop by and grab a coke and make your own decision. Try the food. It taste great but don’t expect any fancy service.
