My wife and I have always dreamed of someday retiring, and opening a little combination bookshop and ice cream parlor.

Yesterday, we walked into our dream made real. Corner Door Fountain is just what we’d imagined we’d open someday… a great collection of books, puppets, knick-knacks, along with ice cream, coffee, and homemade soups and sandwiches.

I hesitate to tell you how good the prices were for what we got; I’m afraid a bunch of people will invade this sanctuary of awesomeness in Millwood, and somehow ruin it… but I got a good sized, two meat deli sandwich with pretzels and a pickle spear for SEVEN BUCKS. I splurged and got a bowl of homemade spirit pea and ham soup… and the nice lady who brought it to me also brought over salt and pepper, because “we don’t put too much salt in our soup, so everyone can just add however much they like.”

I could gush more, bit you get the idea. Step back in time, and go buy a few books, and enjoy them with a handmade milkshake. (Mine was peach)

I feel like I’m at my Grandpa’s house the owner was so hospitable. The prices are fantastic! Food is yummy. Eclectic collection of books, history, art, and toys. I bought some blank fantasy figurines that I painted for table gaming.

Would give more stars if I could. This cafe and more is a piece of forgotten Americana. They pour amazing espresso, the soups are great. But the sausage dog is amazing!!! Oh and the meals are big and I’m pretty sure I paid less than $5 for my sausage meal….. I’m gonna say it again I paid $4 something for the sandwich. I will be back probably weekly bc of how happy we were with the food and service.

Such a cozy little nook the man at the register was very kind and we found a lot of fantastic interesting old reads! Got a delightful peach milkshake that was just the right size and not too sweet. Will be back to explore some more 🙂

True mom and pop place with $2 mochas and $5 sandwiches and 35 cent big chocolate chip cookies! “Millwood prices,” he tells me, “not Spokane prices.” This is a gem. Treat yourself to ice cream or coffee or lunch or a book or puppet or…

Stopped in for a snack and browsed the used book selection. They have puppets, a big variety of coloring books, and some crafting supplies. The paintings on the walls are amazing! I particularly liked the Lestat painting. The owner was very kind. We ordered Italian sodas and had some of their baked goods. Nice place to stop!

Hidden gem. Our kids love to ride their bikes to the Corner Cafe and get ice cream cones—a rare treat they can actually afford on their meager allowances. This is a super small and treasured business, run by our Millwood neighbors, worth checking out! Photos are from the Spokesman Review 4/28/25 about the history.

I’ve driven past this a number of times and finally stopped in today. I’m so glad I did! What a lovely little shop with fantastic prices, “Millwood prices, not Spokane prices”. The owner Greg is so kind! I treated my daughter to an ice cream cone (only $2 for a generous serving size) and we got some homemade chocolate chip cookies to take home (3/$1).
They also offer soups, sandwiches, and drinks!
In addition to all the wonderful food and drinks they have a great selection of used books, finger puppets, art made by one of the other owners, etc. You’ve gotta stop by and experience this lovely chunk of heaven in Millwood!
