We pass this place all the time and only recently decided to drop in for breakfast after seeing a review by Champ @1stonearth. We arrived before 10 am on Sunday and snagged a table before it got busy. It’s small but cozy. I love that’s it’s decorated with Portsmouth landmarks. The wait staff was friendly and informed us of the specials. I orderd the breakfast bowl with potatoes, topped with scrambled eggs, spinach, and mushrooms. My friend went with the French toast. My breakfast bowl hit the spot, everything was well seasoned and great portions. My friend loved his French toast, light and fluffy. The food is delicious and the prices are affordable. They have a lunch menu that starts at 11am. We loved it and definitely plan to be back.

My first time at this restaurant since they changed ownership was Saturday 11.15.25. The restaurant is a very small and intimate space. The tables can accommodate 4 but it will be tight if they have a full house. I will begin this statement with saying our waitress was nice, however you can tell she is new to hospitality or requires some training based on how she served us our drinks and food. I believe it will come with time ☺️
Now to the food! Everything was amazing. I originally watched an IG review from 1stonearth on the Shrimp and Grits and the stuffed French toast. It did not disappoint. I personally like my French Toast plain but the cream was good. The shrimp and grits needed no extra seasoning at all. 10/10. My husband had the scramble, and potatoes. That was enough for 2 people. Those potatoes were so good! Very well seasoned.
Part 2! I went back for take out on another day . I had to get the French toast platter and I got a slice of that banana pudding cake! It was so good. I was pleased with the plating for take out. Very neat! I appreciate that. Overall, great job! I live around the corner so I will be back

A quaint little place with throw back pictures of the city. The food was ok, but half of my wife’s dish was overcooked. The young lady who waited on us didn’t seem to know what she was doing. As small as the restaurant is the parking lot is smaller. With three out of the eight tables being occupied I still feel that the staff was overwhelmed.

This totally would have been a 5 star review if not for the service. As a bartender/server I make reviews from both the workers and customers points. My waitress was not familiar with the menu. Which was made obvious when she went to take my order and didn’t know what I was ordering. I ordered the Supreme Breakfast Bowl with shredded hash browns and an English muffin, a side of cheese grits, and a diet coke. My breakfast bowl came out with the wrong potatoes and no side of cheese grits. I had to ask another waitress for butter and hot sauce. Not once did my waitress come to the table and ask if I needed anything or check to make sure everything was right. Which is why I didn’t say anything about my order being wrong and not complete. And it wasn’t because they were busy. I would have been able to understand that. But there were only two other tables seated and maybe 3 people for carry-out. Even when I sat there needing a refill for 10 minutes, she was more concerned with being face first in her phone. She literally spent more time on her phone than actually doing any work. It wasn’t until she decided it was time to bring my check (without me asking) and I told her I wasn’t done when I finally got a refill. My bill was wrong and I’m sure that the owner would have appreciated me being charged for everything I ordered. Especially since I was going to order something to-go but decided against it after the barely there service. Don’t get me wrong, the food was good. Really good. It was the service that was bad. If this girl would have known that I actually tip 30-50% for decent service, I don’t think it would have made a difference. Instead, she got 19% on a $16 check that should have been a 30-50% tip on a $30 or more check. Since I enjoyed the food and it’s close to home, I’ll probably just get my food carry-out from now on to avoid the disappointment of horrible service.

The menu they had out was for lunch yet they couldn’t find the breakfast menu, and breakfast was served all day. 2 customers walked out because of the confusion. I paid almost $20 for a sampler and it was missing items , there are dead flies all over the back counters , definitely won’t be going back . Would’ve been better off at Waffle House dennys or ihop

The food was good, but some of it came out late and a few of the sides from my wife’s order never arrived. It feels like they just give you a total without showing the full breakdown until after they print the receipt. After reviewing mine, I realized I was charged for an item I never received. The owner/manager was present, but overall the experience was terrible.

I have been here several times with my husband! This particular time I came with my friends, I even hyped it up because I had a great previous experience! First when we walked in nobody welcomed us with a Hello, we will be right with you nothing. The young lady who waited our table was nice, but her counterpart was very irritated and not welcoming! She placed our food on the table in front of the wrong people and walked away. The young lady didn’t ask if we needed any condiments nothing. The drinks didn’t come out until 20 minutes after our order was taken! I don’t think their fountain machine works so the drinks were filled with bottles so the cups were not filled! One of our friends never received her food. We were told it was being boxed up as we were leaving but at that point she did not want it because she waited for over 45 minutes for it. Also the gratuity was already added for a party of 3 so we paid for bad service. I will pay for good food but customer service is everything. If you can’t handle dealing with people on a day to day basis! This is not the profession for you! I hope that the reviews are being taken into consideration and the attitudes moving forward will be better!

I was skeptical about coming here because I’ve never heard anything about this restaurant but they really surprised me. The service is excellent and the cooks are extremely fast. I was extremely impressed about the quality of the home made items on the menu. I’ve never had a biscuit so moist and just melts in your mouth. This is a hidden gem in the Portsmouth area and I try my best to eat here whenever I’m nearby. I typically get the supreme omelette with cheese grits and the homemade biscuits and a homemade brownie

I stopped in for lunch, taking a break from my regular eating spots in Old Town Portsmouth and I was very happy I did! I had the broccoli cheddar soup, it was very creamy and the taste was superb; plenty of broccoli, very cheesy, hint of garlic and fresh carrots on top. I went with the Wednesday special, Hamburger steak w/onions & mushrooms, Collard greens and side of fries. Everything came out super hot, just the way I like it. The Hamburger steak, had great texture, very flavorful and seasoned like a 5 star restaurant; the onions, mushrooms were very tender and the gravy had a nice beefy taste…The Collards came out hot too, the flavor was perfect, I normally add some extra vinegar when I eat collards; however, these were perfect and I didn’t need to add anything! I had the cake to go and waited a couple of hours before I dug in – it was perfect, very fluffy and the icing complimented it well. The service was amazing, very welcoming; portions were plentiful and priced right. Great menu selection, I can’t wait to go back!

The food is always hot and good. I had the bacon hamburger and French fries. My wife had the club sandwich, she said that it had a lot of meat the but the cheese was missing. My brother enjoyed two chili dogs with mustard onions and chili.
