Im a Manasquan resident and frequent customer. Staff is excellent. Bagels excellent. Only negative is that the owner with grey hair at the register is as rude as can be. This is a constant behavior of his over the years. Hes rude and dismissive to customers. If you dont mind his attitude, its a good spot. But if youre bothered by a guy that has the personal skills of a gulag guard maybe try one of the other bagel shops within bike distance.

I’ve been coming here for a long time now and just recently have noticed on my receipts
that I’ve been getting charged random prices. I called in the same exact bagel order for the last couple of days throughout the week. Each time has been different prices. When I asked the owner about it he said there was an up charge for the specific bagel I ordered.
I feel I have been getting ripped off due to the “excuses” of the up charge.

Got a bagel with cream cheese, an “egg & cheese” (as per their menu states) and a water. The owner rang us up and tells us it will be $19. When we contested this, he said you got 2 egg sandwiches with cheese and bagel. We told him we got one sandwich and a bagel and he didn’t believe us until he fished the order ticket out of the trash. Re-rung us and tells us it’s $17. Questioned this again and he told us you got cream cheese on your bagel and cheese on your egg sandwich, both of which are a dollar. Menu said “egg & cheese” was $4.99, bagel with spread $4.99. Unless the 16 oz water was $9.99, something tells me the owner just charges whatever he wants and expects people not to question it. As if ignoring us the entire time we were in there wasn’t bad enough, this was the nail in the coffin.
In response to owner: we did not get any customizations. We got a bagel with veggie cream cheese & an egg and cheese sandwich (no meat). We were not offered a receipt.

Waited 40 minutes in hot dirty bagel store. Ordered 1 egg white wrap and the order taker never submitted my order. He was drinking and looking right at me! I asked where my order was and he said he never submitted after 40 minutes i suggested to Bob at the cashier that i should not pay and he said fine, i will eat it for dinner. Filthy dirty with no customer service or even decency. Very high prices. Total rip off. AVOID!
Actually it was 42 minutes because while i was waiting there calmly , I was watching the clock . It is terrible that while a mistake was made on your store ‘s part, your customer service includes passing judgement on someone who you do not even know by your response. Perhaps work on your customer service and cleanliness rather than treating your customers so poorly. Avoid!!!!

It’s a shame the food is decent (that’s being kind) since the workers are miserable people. Especially the old, grumpy man behind the register. First visit and I had no idea we had to wait for our food to be done to pay. Don’t worry though, he so rudely let me know after standing there for several minutes waiting to pay. Maybe he’d have more money to pay someone to clean the filthy dining area if he wasn’t wearing a 30k watch.
Save your money and eat at 7-11, they’ll probably at least put two eggs on your sandwich and cook the meat fully.
Edit to address the owners response:
I’m not surprised at this response considering how rudely we, and others were treated. It’s clear this place has an issue with customer service and it mainly falls on one person (which is probably you). You’d be better off not responding but go ahead and show your true colors.

We came here to support the local owners of this shop as my husband’s uncle started this business and sold it to the current owners. We were expecting it to have the same feel and charm and boy were we wrong. We walked in to hot and stuffy air and sadly it was cooler to be outside than in. No one greets you or even smiles at you and you are made to feel like a complete annoyance from the moment you walk in. The omelette was okay, the hash brown was stale, and the “toast” that came with the omelette was two slices of bread out of the bag- it wasn’t toasted. As we left no one thanked us for coming in or acknowledged us and we even said “thank you” on our way out. After our experience we hopped on google to read the reviews, sure enough we are not the only ones to have had similar experiences. It’s sad to think what this business used to be like when the family owned it and what it is now. We will be supporting other businesses as a result.

Classic jersey place. Great bagels with an appropriate level of”what do you want”

Bagel is fine, but what’s up with the rude and miserable old man at the cash register?
I just came in to order a quick bagel and got verbally abused when he dropped his pen on the ground. Apparently I didn’t pick it up fast enough.
Maybe he should stay home and not submit innocent paying customers to his bad attitude.
Edit (Response to owner): The incident he was so offended by lasted 5 seconds and you really weren’t busy at all for a holiday weekend. Now I understand why. Lol
