Cornell Cafe Morikami Museum: A Serene Culinary Journey …
Reviews
The menu features a well-liked selection of Japanese and Pan-Asian inspired dishes, including teriyaki bowls, bento boxes, and seafood options like salmon teriyaki. Many visitors praise the food quality as fresh, flavorful, and satisfying, often mentioning generous portions and excellent value for the price. The relaxed setting enhances the dishes, allowing you to savor both the flavors and the natural beauty around you.
Service is generally friendly and efficient, though it can get busy when the museum is crowded — especially around lunchtime — so arriving early or right when the café opens can help avoid longer lines. Even with occasional wait times during peak hours, the overall experience remains highly enjoyable.
Overall, the Cornell Café is more than just a convenient lunch stop. It’s a memorable part of your visit to Morikami. Between the lovely views, tasty food, and tranquil vibe, it easily earns a 5-star rating and is worth planning your visit around.

Eating at Cornell cafe is one of our favorite things to do at the Morikami Gardens.
We arrived about 2pm and there was a LONG line of about 20+ people waiting to order. I worried that we wouldn’t be able to get lunch before they closed. But the line moved very quickly! We were able to order within 10 minutes and find a table. We sat inside, but they had both doors open and a fan on. It was a very windy day and with the fan, it was too much, so we sat in a booth out of the wind blowing through the restaurant.
We ordered some pan fried chicken gyoza, a vegetarian bento box, a fried pork entree and a crispy chicken entree.
Altogether with a boba tea, and green tea, our bill was $55. Everything comes in To-go containers.
Everyone loved their meal. The bento box is a really good deal! I will definitely get that every time I go. We had a bit of leftovers to take home. I highly recommend getting to the Gardens a little earlier and having lunch here. Don’t worry if you see a big line. It moves quickly. The restaurant adds to the all around experience of your visit.
I have been here before and it used to be much better than this time.
Beautiful view is the reason I come here.
Now, you order queueing up and then look for a table. The lady taking orders was quite bossy and unfriendly.
We like to sit outside, especially during cool breeze days.
We ordered a veggie sushi and a vegetarian bento box. The food was nice and flavorful. Service only to bring or remove plates from your table.
It is a nice way of finishing your visit.
We didn’t partake or eat a full meal, but the air conditioning after a significant walk around the Japanese garden felt almost heavenly.
There was a bit of confusion with my transaction, as the person taking my order completely dropped the ball and forgot half of it, but it was quickly cleared up. This is also one of the few locations I have ever seen tiny Hagen Daz containers.
Great little cafe at the end of the walk!
