I was so very pleased with me & my hubby’s date night at Cork & Oak last night. It was an overwhelmingly positive experience. Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food & drinks, and impeccable service. The owners were very attentive as was the wait staff. Plus, they had a soloist there with an amazing voice and very friendly. We will definitely be going back. Lastly, don’t sleep on those Expresso Martinis, they are the BOMB!!

A welcome addition to the south suburbs of Lansing/Munster!

My wife and I love having our date nights, and we found this place that had just opened. We figured we’d give it a try since it’s nearby rather than heading to the city, and we are glad we did.

Immediately walking in, the decor is very nice – upscale modern vibes, with a curtain that opens, bringing you to the dining area.

We sat in the middle of the restaurant and met our server. He was fantastic. Very attentive, easy to talk to, and was happy to give recommendations. I ordered an old fashioned, and my wife had an espresso martini. Both were great cocktails and made very well.

To start, we had the charbroiled oysters and the C+O House Bread. The oysters were awesome. Great flavor. The bread was the perfect accompaniment, as it was served with some Cajun honey to balance the flavors.

For dinner, we had the lamb lollipops, which were cooked to perfection, and the Cajun pasta, which had awesome flavor and the perfect amount of spice.

You can tell the chef truly cares about the meals he/she creates, as both the flavor and presentation were outstanding.

For dessert, we got the skillet cookie (sadly they were out of the salted caramel). It was the perfect end to our dinner.

Negatives: I’m not sure where the “wine, whiskey, tapas” comes in to play, as they had a very limited and basic wine and whiskey list, and there were no tapas. It’s great all around, but seems like they are still finding themselves. Also – we didn’t know there were happy hour specials, given we showed up early. They should be more transparent about the specials, but I know they are brand new and are probably working out what the actual specials will look like.

Overall, I’m really impressed with this new restaurant. If you’re in the Lansing/Munster area, definitely give this place a try. I’ll definitely be back to try the salted caramel skillet cookie and the “One More Drink” lounge!

Nice ambiance, relaxed vibe, great spot for grabbing a quick bite or a date night. Amanda was our server, she was very patient and nice.
We ordered lambchops, a caesar salad, steak frites, salmon, mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes. Our faves were the lambchops and salmon. The Mac & mashed potatoes were missing some texture. We also had 3 alcoholic beverages.
Our bill was $257 and that was with gratuity. Gratuity is already added into the final bill as well.
There’s also another small side on the restaurant where you can grab a drink and socialize. It also has a nice ambiance.

I visited Cork & Oak last night and had an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious, the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the atmosphere was everything. From start to finish, it was a great vibe. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it.

First things first, I am genuinely excited that we’re getting more restaurants in the south suburbs. I love not having to fight downtown traffic for a nice dinner. So I’m giving this review with grace because they’re newly opened and still working out the kinks.

✨ Atmosphere
Beautiful space. Romantic. Two distinct vibes , one side bright with live music (they had a sax player ), the other side darker and more intimate with fireplace TVs and lounge energy. Definitely feels like you could eat on one side and then relax with drinks on the other.

Drinks
The sangria was a hit at the table. My espresso martini was strong and flavorful , I personally love when you can see that separation in the glass (it’s just pretty to me ), but overall it was solid.

Food Breakdown

• Garlic Fries – Good, but not special. The garlic aioli didn’t wow me. For the price, I’d love to see them take it up a notch ,maybe add truffle and really elevate it.

• Broccolini – I was excited because I LOVE charred broccolini. But this one was very dry. It needed that oil + lemon finish to balance the char. It was giving tree branch a little bit .

• Lamb Chops – Thin but very flavorful. Presentation was beautiful. Small, but tasty.

• Lemon Pepper Wings – I LOVED the size of the wings. Give me smaller wings all day, I don’t want dinosaur wings. Flavor was there. One looked slightly pink inside, which made me nervous, but seasoning was on point.

• Cajun Pasta – This was probably the most filling dish at the table. Big portion. Creamy. Flavorful. If you’re trying to actually get full, this is your safest bet. They should add a little toasted bread with it though.

• Salmon – Cooked perfectly. Not overcooked (thank you ). Beautiful presentation.

• BBQ Shrimp – I ordered charred oysters but received these instead. They were very garlicky and huge, but I didn’t taste BBQ at all. Wouldn’t order again personally.

Pricing
Everything is à la carte, including sides. Just be prepared for that. My only critique here is that when a restaurant is à la carte, sides are usually portioned large enough to share. These portions felt more individual for the $12–$16 range.

⏳ Service
They’re clearly still finding their rhythm. We waited about 30–40 minutes for drinks. Our server Stephanie was handling the bar AND tables, so I know she was overwhelmed. Grace given, but I hope staffing gets sorted soon.

Front door energy matters too. The host’s tone was a little sharp when we asked about seating. Tone matters, especially as the first impression of the restaurant.

⭐ Overall
Had this been an established restaurant, I would’ve taken off more stars. But because they’re new, I’m giving grace. I’d give it an 4 out of 5 for now.

The vision is there. The atmosphere is there. The flavor is there in some dishes. They just need consistency, better portion balance, and smoother service flow.

And yes , I will be back to try more. Because we need more spots like this in the south suburbs, and I want them to win.

Beautiful decor, great food, good service. I didn’t have reservations and dined at the bar 2 weeks after they opened. I heard live music on my way in and would have loved to enjoy. The bar is separate from the main dining area, so I’ll have to secure reservations and come back another time. I had the cajun pasta and added lobster and the C + O punch and everything was great; the drink was strong. It’s close to home and I will definitely be back.

First time visiting, and it might be the last. Upon entering, the lady seemed unfriendly and didn’t greet me. I initiated the conversation, but she didn’t reciprocate. She inquired about my reservation, and I informed her that I didn’t have one. However, she suggested I sit at a bar, but one side was full. I accepted and she showed me the other side.

The place wasn’t overly crowded; there were people there, but not too many. There wasn’t anyone at the bar except for me and two others. While waiting for a friend, Bartender was incredibly slow. It took awhile for water and alcoholic beverages to arrive.

The food was mediocre. We ordered a small bite that wasn’t on the menu: steak over fries and oil. It arrived medium, not medium and it wasn’t hot. We also had “bbq” shrimp, which came out garlic and butter, but the shrimp were enormous. They were good, but not what we ordered. Then, we had the lobster with shrimp with friend rice. It was terrible. That one seemed to be the most popular dish. The lobster was chewy, and the rice had an abundance of vegetables that weren’t listed on the menu. It also tasted like it was cooked in peanut oil or had peanuts in it, which left a bad aftertaste.

Another bartender asked us how we liked our food, and we weren’t too pleased. I’m a temperature girl; if my food isn’t hot enough, I don’t want it. Instead of accommodating us by fixing the food, a bartender brought us two shots of alcohol.

While we were dining there, we noticed a red snapper emerge from the window. Afterward, we were informed that it was the fish of the day, but it wasn’t mentioned on the menu.

The ambiance was pleasant, and the music was low-key R&B. The drinks were okay, but I don’t think I’ll be returning.

This is a beautiful establishment. The drinks were amazingly delicious. They pay attention to detail ( purse hooks for the table) and very attentive to their patrons. We went on a Wednesday night very refreshing for hump day. We will definitely be back and bring more people with us. Don’t forget to step into the speakeasy. Looking for something small and intimate this is the place. Can’t wait to see what else they have to offer.
