food was a bit mixed with some hits and some misses.
i’m a huge fan of eggplant and really wanted to love the “bikini” but i just didn’t feel like the eggplant was done very well here. the duck & pork meatballs had a very strange texture, almost like it was over tenderized which made it taste and feel like it was undercooked. not a fan.
the croquetas were really good, crispy on the outside and warm/flavorful on the inside. smoked salmon montadito was excellent as well. just wished the portions were a touch bigger. i do appreciate the server’s offer to customize the number of pieces according to our party size though.
the grilled sea bass is the closest we’ve had to those in the algarve – perfectly cooked and seasoned with complementary meyer lemon and olives. topped off with a few glasses of sangria, it almost felt like we were back in europe! if you’re looking for something fun and casual outside of the usual touristy or american seafood dining experience when in SF, i would recommend coqueta.
The tapas/small plates allow you to sample a variety of deliciousness!
My favorite dish, both in flavor and presentation, was the patatas bravas, we gobbled them up before any thought of a pic – sorry fans.
We never miss a chance to eat here when in San Fran!
The food is exquisite; I was quite conservative in my order due to a long journey and a modest appetite, but I couldn’t resist trying the Kale salad, a chef’s recommendation. I give it a 4/5; the mix of flavors and ingredients creates a delightful taste. I also ordered Smoked Salmon, simple but delicious, and finally I ordered the exquisite grilled octopus, incredibly flavorful. I couldn’t leave without trying a dessert, so I opted for the Rice Cake “Biscocho de Arroz” loved it! Different, crunchy, and delicious.
All servers and Busser are kind and sweet..!
The ambiance is beautiful; it’s not a big restaurant, but it feels cute.
I will definitely have to come back to try other dishes that piqued my curiosity.
Thank you, Coqueta team!
Still, the flavors for everything are awesome, and the servers are kind and quick to refill your water. The croquetas de pollo, the huevos nacionales, and the albondigas were my favorite!
Meatballs are a must, so are the croquettes, potatoes, bread and tomato, dates, and any of the cheese plates. And if you want the best margarita of your life? Salt Air Margarita is for you. This place just kills it every single time. It’s in my usual SF restaurant rotation and it’s consistently good. Love taking out of towners here too because the location is so easy and so pretty.
Definitely an SF must try!
Had a small order this time as it was just me, wanted to try other than my usual order. The pintxos were good, I would have ordered more but I ordered paella. Paella’s okay, the shellfish totally shrunk (as if nothing is left), the chocolate cake is perhaps my new dessert go to here!
Steak perfectly cooked, pork shoulder that melted literally, and ice-cream with blood orange flavor on the top of the chocolate cake was literally the explosion of flavors ( sweet and sour perfection )
Have to mention lovely gentlemen in suit that greeted us at the door and later checked on us several times, I believe he’s name was Aidan ( I’m sorry if I butchered that). He was pure class and proof of genuine hospitality.
We will come back as we do, for last several years.
